We recently connected with Melissa Batt and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, thanks for joining us today. If you’re open to it, can you talk to us about the best (or worst) investment you’ve made. What’s the backstory and the relevant context behind why you made the investment
Great question! Have you been talking to my husband? We were just discussing this!
One of my strengths is that I don’t get stuck in indecision. I believe that taking action—whether it turns out to be the best decision or not—keeps me moving forward. While not every investment I’ve made has been financially beneficial, I don’t see them as total losses. Each one has taught me something valuable.
One not-so-great investment that stands out was hiring a coach simply because several of my peers were working with him. At the time, I was going through the motions and didn’t have a clear goal for what I needed. Instead of making the decision based on alignment with my vision, I said yes because I thought it was the thing to do. It was a significant financial investment, but the biggest lesson wasn’t about the money—it was about making intentional decisions that align with my needs rather than following what others are doing.
Now, I’m much more intentional with my investments. I ask myself: What do I truly need? How will this support my mission? Why am I considering this investment or purchase? That experience gave me clarity on what I won’t do in the future, and in that way, it was still a step forward.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
That’s a lot of questions wrapped into one, but I’m going to do my best to answer them for the readers.
I’m a Christian Life Coach and Faith Mentor who helps overwhelmed women break free from survival mode and start living with purpose. My passion for coaching comes from my own journey—one marked by burnout, anxiety, and constantly putting others first while struggling with fear and going through the motions. Real talk… I have been there and done that and want to help others not have to go through what I went through. For years, I was busy but never truly present, successful on the outside yet exhausted and disconnected inside. As I reclaimed my time, refocused my priorities, and strengthened my faith, I realized how many other women felt the same—stuck, distracted, and unsure how to move forward. That’s when I knew I was called to help women step out of the chaos and into intentional, faith-driven living.
My Offers
I offer Breakthrough Coaching, a six month 1-on-1 program to help high-achieving women go from stuck and overwhelmed to confident and focused. I also lead free and paid workshops, including Operation Reset, a 5-day challenge designed to help women reset their focus, reclaim their time, and take intentional steps forward.
What Sets Me Apart
Most life coaches focus on one area of life or a specific goal, like career, mindset, or productivity. But I take a holistic approach because life isn’t lived in separate boxes. You may want to become a more present spouse and make more money, but if another area of your life is falling apart, it will affect everything else. Stress, burnout, and unprocessed emotions don’t stay contained—they spill over. That’s why I don’t just help with setting goals—I help them create real change from the inside out, uncovering hidden barriers and addressing what’s holding them back so they can have sustainable success.
What I’m Most Proud Of
The most rewarding part of my work is watching women step into confidence—not because they have all the answers, but because they’ve stopped letting fear, busyness, and self-doubt hold them back. But more than that, I’m proud of seeing them deepen their faith and grow closer to Jesus as they step into obedience and say YES to what He is calling them to. So often, we let distractions, fear, or uncertainty keep us from following God’s lead. My greatest joy is helping women recognize that God has already equipped them, and as they take small, faithful steps forward, He will meet them there. When a client tells me, “I finally feel like I can hear God’s voice again,” or “For the first time, I’m fully surrendering and trusting Him,” that’s what keeps me going. It’s not just about getting unstuck—it’s about walking in faith, stepping into purpose, and knowing that God has more for you than just surviving each day.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
For years, I believed that success was measured by status, influence, and achievement. I built a thriving business, but the cost was nearly losing my marriage, neglecting my health, and being absent from my kids’ lives. I was great at what I did, and the instant gratification of recognition and achievement kept me pouring more time into work—while my main priorities suffered. The truth is, success in business comes with applause—awards, accolades, and “I see you” moments. But there’s no public recognition for being intentional with your marriage or showing up consistently for your kids. I thrived on being seen in the moment, but at what cost? I was always on my phone, distracted, and unavailable to the people who needed me most.
Then, everything started crumbling—marriage struggles, children battling mental health challenges, and me sinking into depression and anxiety. I could barely get out of bed, yet I still put on a front like I had it together. In reality, I was flailing.
I had to unlearn the lie that success was just about money, influence, and achievement and embrace the truth that sustainability matters. I had to stop flying by the seat of my pants and start living with intention. That meant learning to be where my feet are, setting boundaries and office hours, and trusting that God can bless my business without me hustling and neglecting my main priorities.
Today, I no longer try to force things to happen. I set goals, create a plan, and work the plan—without sacrificing my well-being. I clock out of work, keep my laptop at home when I travel, and no longer work from my phone. I’ve learned that true success isn’t found in hustle—it’s found in obedience, stewardship, and trusting God to do what only He can do.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of the most impactful resources for me has been Michael Hyatt’s books and planner. His philosophy of “winning at work without losing at home” deeply resonated with me, especially after experiencing the consequences of hustle culture firsthand.
His approach to productivity, goal-setting, and work-life balance helped me shift from hustling to make things happen to building a sustainable business that aligns with my priorities. His planner, in particular, has helped me be more intentional with my time, ensuring I’m not just busy, but productive in a way that serves both my business and my personal life.
Instead of constantly reacting and operating in survival mode, I now lead with clarity, strategy, and sustainability, knowing that success isn’t just about working harder—it’s about working smarter while keeping my priorities in order. Thanks to Hyatt’s teachings, I’ve learned that building a thriving business should never come at the expense of faith, family, or well-being—and that’s exactly how I coach my clients today.
