We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cynthia Gary. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cynthia below.
Hi Cynthia , thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I started my business just before the pandemic, and it turned out to be a turning point for me in a positive way. With many people staying home and tapping into their creativity and skills, there was a surge in interest in self-development, improving their lives, and starting their own businesses. It was a time when jobs were becoming increasingly unreliable and stressful, so people were looking for ways to make a positive change. I quit my job suddenly as things started to grow really fast for me during the pandemic. A year later, I was moving my business from Illinois to Dallas, Texas, with less than two years in business and no real plan. I just trusted God and followed where I was led, and I ended up in a place that’s perfect for entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey began after a life-changing event that made me realize the importance of having my own business. It gave me a sense of self-worth and the freedom to pursue my passions. I started as a credit repair specialist, but I soon discovered a deep love for all things business and helping others. I realized that I wanted to empower people to reach their full potential and not be limited by others’ expectations.
I started by helping people structure their businesses and build business credit. I grew into a full consulting firm, providing services like business formation, registered agent services, and guidance on business structure and compliance. I believe in providing more than just what clients ask for. I listen to their concerns and offer solutions and services that truly meet their needs.
I’m hands-on in my consulting business, helping clients succeed beyond just providing a service. I’m proud of the impact I’ve made on small business owners and entrepreneurs. I’ve helped them learn how to effectively run their businesses and make it easier to manage their finances and understand business lingo and laws to stay compliant with the state and city.
At Wells Consulting Firm, we operate with integrity, care, and honesty. We’re located throughout the DFW, making it easy for our clients to reach us and get the help they need. We even help clients restore businesses that they thought were lost forever, restoring confidence in business owners and giving them hope and trust.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
At the top of my business game, I made some serious blunders that cost me everything. I jumped ship without looking at the whole picture. Sometimes, as business owners, we make permanent decisions based on short-term wins. That’s why I now offer audits and assessments to help business owners figure out how to make the most of their peak seasons and plan accordingly instead of making mistakes that could derail them. I made some big moves based on a peak season, and when things slowed down, I couldn’t keep up financially. I lost my house and had to downsize and start over from scratch. I had a slower-than-usual period because I lost a lot of my resources and tools that I couldn’t afford to keep up with. I felt so defeated and wanted to give up and just go back to work and call it a lost cause. But I knew I had the potential, I knew I had made mistakes, and I refused to give up. So, I kept going. Over a thousand miles away from “home” with two kids in a new state, I rebuilt from scratch. And now, a couple of years later, I’m back on top, making better decisions, and able to assess and audit my finances in quarters. I know how to better prepare for “slow” seasons and how to take full advantage of the “peak” seasons. That takes a lot of resilience, dedication, strength, and most importantly, faith.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media following through organic marketing and storytelling. I was honest, raw, and genuine. I shared my journey, experiences, and how I started, grew, and scaled my business. I never held back and provided so much value for business owners starting out. I shared affordable resources and lines of credit to help them reach their goals and achieve success. Most importantly, I remained consistent. Consistency is key. My audience trusts my advice and can count on me to show up for them like I show up for my business. My advice for those just starting to build their social media presence is to be authentically you, be genuine, and stay consistent.
