Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny Rich. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jenny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I was in Nursing school while taking care of my mom who had Metastatic Breast cancer. As I was learning about medications and the allopathic medical system, I had terrible gut feelings that everything I was learning went against what I believed would actually help people. The medical system failed both of my parents. I met the owner of a functional nutrition company and he helped me with my own health issues. I jumped right out of nursing school and into this functional nutrition school without second thought.

Jenny, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a full time functional nutritionist whose goal is to get to the root cause of your health issues. Some of the conditions I help are PCOS, endometriosis, Parkinson’s, autoimmune diseases, thyroid issues, hormone balancing, gut health, fertility, and more. I help people get off of unnecessary prescription medications and feel their best while preventing disease and optimizing their health. At the same time I am a part time foodie and business blogger. I run an instagram account called “@MonmouthCountyClub” where I showcase the best restaurants and businesses around. My goal was to show people that after they heal themselves they can have balance and fun! I provide one on one health coaching and also provide high quality advertising videos for local businesses.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was in high school. She did chemo/radiation and was told she was cancer free. A few years later her cancer came back. Things got really bad about 7 years ago and the last 5 years of her life were horrible. I was her full time caregiver alongside my sister and father. She broke many bones in her legs, arm, and neck due to her cancer. She was so resilient and determined to fight her cancer. Being her caregiver was the hardest most important thing I’ve ever done with my life. I gained a purpose for my life that I never would have had if I hadn’t gone through this. Two days after my mom passed away my father was diagnosed with throat cancer. Luckily he is in remission today. The pain in my life has led me to my purpose. I am determined to change the trajectory of as many lives as possible. My gift is the ability to heal people and give them back years of quality of life that they otherwise wouldn’t have had.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I came from the world of bodybuilding. Then I got into macro counting and I used to believe that you just had to move more and eat less or that you could eat whatever you wanted if it fit your macros. It wasn’t until that didn’t work anymore for me that I learned the importance of thyroid health, adrenal health, balanced hormones and fixing your gut health. After competing I gained 30 lbs what felt like overnight. I had SIBO and my adrenals were a mess. Now, after working with so many women who eat incredibly clean and workout hard and still don’t lose the extra weight, I realized just how much more goes into health. It was hard to unlearn calories in versus calories out and realize that there is so much more to the puzzle that is the human body.
