Nick, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
In general, I do believe that students do need to learn most of what the current educational system teaches them. However, I think the path to providing them with a more full experience of enriching their lives and careers can be learned from the private school industry. Providing a more individualized approach to teaching can only be accomplished with smaller classroom sizes and more involved/better-incentivized teaching staff. Because of this, I’m a believer in the private education system for the simple fact that they have the ability to make their own decisions about how to educate their students. There’s a chance that parents can find a school that aligns with their beliefs about schooling. It’s just more personalized by nature. I’m also a fan of hybrid home school education that gives parents the tools they need to raise their children with the right educational milestones and develop their kid’s personalities, without all of the stress being on the parent.
Nick, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Nick Laiuppa Marketing (real original name right) is a digital marketing and advertising agency. But, agencies are usually slimy folks who promise big and deliver small. I learned this as I worked my way through seven agencies in my freelancing days. I always thought it was hypocritical that they make their client’s sign contracts that commit the client to the agency but the agency won’t guarantee the results that made the client commit to the agency in the first place. How can you ask for their guaranteed businesses without guaranteeing their result? Always struck me the wrong way. So, we don’t do slimy things. We’re the people you’d want to work with if you had a choice. But, there’s a catch. We only work with people that we know that we can help because we guarantee that we can help you. We get businesses more customers and help them keep more customers through Google advertising, social media advertising, email marketing, review generation, SEO, and direct mail marketing. We’re also starting to take our proven methods to private and independent schools to get and keep more students. Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I started my agency by transitioning out of freelancing… slowly. I’m not the type to get capital or try to find investment from others. I used to be the type to fund my dreams on a CC but I learned my lesson a couple of times. So, for me, the best option was and is to transition. By keeping my expenses, both personal and business, as low as possible for as long as possible I was able to afford to start my business. I think a lot of people don’t realize the time that starting your own business takes. Most often I see people fail at getting their thing off the ground because they run out of money too soon and need to get a “real job”.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I think a great way to keep your clients loyal is to keep them in the loop with what you’ve got going on. It’s no secret that your clients are paying for your lifestyle and your business operations. In effect, they’re investing in you. So, let them know what their investment is doing. I like to send out a monthly email that updates all of my clients on what my agency is up to, how we’re growing, what we’re learning, what we’re thinking, why we’re going in the direction we are, and thanking them for their investment in us.
That’s not the only way to do it, but it’s a unique one that I think my clients appreciate.
