It’s time to prioritize quality over quantity.
Sustainability continues to be an important conversation in the fashion industry. We are starting to see a shift away from fast fashion and the demand for upcycled clothing rising among eco-conscious consumers. Shopping and wearing upcycled clothing brands is a great way to improve your style and CO2 footprint in the current global fashion context.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jhoanna Alba, and I have been in the fashion industry for over 30 years. I create bespoke ensembles for over 800 professional athletes, entertainers, businessmen, and women. l own my own fashion house in the garment district in Los Angeles, which is managed by my mother. We can produce custom clothing in an expedited timeframe. Recently, I partnered with In Her Purpose, a community that helps goal-driven women activate their purpose into successful businesses so they can live life on their own terms.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being in a male-dominated industry, I knew I would face challenges and have to prove myself. In the process of starting my own business, I asked successful businessmen and women how they became successful. I built relationships, paid attention to their actions and execution plans, and witnessed multi-million dollar transactions. I earned my clients’ loyalty by being authentic and trustworthy. I have shown that I will work as hard to accommodate them. My biggest compliment is referrals as I have built my business through word of mouth.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is communication and appreciation. I have an open-door policy, and it is important that I create a comfortable workspace for everyone. Every year, I take my team on a trip to a destination chosen by one team member. These trips help build camaraderie, rejuvenate, and prevent burnout.
