We recently connected with Amberlyn Sewell and have shared our conversation below.
Amberlyn , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
When we first opened Dream House Bounce, it was a risk for both me and my husband. It was my dream to start the company and my husband has supported me the entire way. In order to get our name out there and significantly grow our brand I was extremely consistent with marketing and I kept finding ways to set myself apart from the competition. Offering the full party, and establishing a one-stop party shop and event planning service has made us unique in the industry.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Back in 2021, I looked everywhere for an all white bounce house for my daughters birthday party. After we were unsuccessful at locating a white bounce house company, we decided to order one on our own. When it arrived all of our friends went crazy over it. Complete strangers were reaching out asking if they could rent it from us. I’ve always been a creative by nature, so We decided to make a business out of it, and we ordered 5 more bounce houses. From there, we added even more inventory and services for our clients, allowing us to be their one-stop party shop!
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My husband is my business partner. Working with your spouse has its challenges but at the end of the day we make the best team! Landon is a Director of Engineering by day, and then he helps me run Dream House Bounce on the weekends, so you could say that we both pretty much work 7 days a week. He supports my every decision and he has always been my biggest cheerleader through this entire business journey. Having your partner’s full support is key to managing a successful business.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media has its challenges but I have always had a passion for marketing. With a degree in sales management and marketing, you could say that running a social media platform comes pretty naturally for me. My advice for those just starting to grow a social media presence would be to stay consistent. Post several things weekly and stay visible to your followers. Research and find out who your ideal audience is, and then focus your attention and your newsfeed posts towards them.
