We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ravi Dosaj. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ravi below.
Alright, Ravi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
During my time in college studying art, I designed logos and brands for the action sport retail market. The very first company was one that I helped to create called Label Whore. I was already prepped with design experience and client/ business side from a course in college that brought in real clients to work with students on their brand and design.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve had an incredible journey as a visual artist over the last three decades. As an Art Director, Artist, and Creative Entrepreneur, my artistic reach spans across fine art, film, new media, apparel, and music education. One of my proudest achievements is co-creating Rhythmic Expressionism, a fine art movement that focuses on capturing the performance of musicians and transforming their movements into visual art.
For the past two decades, I’ve been the Art Director, Artist, and Founder of SceneFour, a visual art team and publishing house. We specialize in creating collaborative fine art releases with musical visionaries. I’ve had the privilege of working with iconic musicians like members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Journey, Def Leppard, Grateful Dead, Jane’s Addiction, Guns N’ Roses, The Police, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, and Incubus. These collaborative art releases have become highly sought after, with over 10,000 pieces sold to collectors in more than 80 countries. To date, seven art books have been published about our work at SceneFour.
I’m also passionate about supporting charitable organizations, and over the years, more than 50 remarkable charities have received financial contributions from the sale of SceneFour’s artwork. Throughout my career, companies like Sony Pictures, MTV, Disney, Warner Brothers, and FX Networks have called on me for my expertise. It’s been an amazing ride, and I’m incredibly grateful for all the opportunities to combine my love for art and music.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think doing collaborative art and creating a new medium of art has had its challenges. When you deal with music management or A&R, they were not so readily to accept your contribution and worth to the art project. My business partner Cory Danziger have heard, “What do we need you for?”
The art world itself was very difficult to navigate as we have created a new medium of art. It’s difficult to explain and inform the gallery owner and the people viewing the art when there is no model or story told to reference what you are doing.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect is definitely being self-aware and applying that to my life and my work. When my ego finally died, my perspective changed. When you can view what you do from a transcendental state, you have the ability to go further in creativity, open up and dissect everything to bring clarity. Trust me my ego comes back to life like a zombie and will constantly tell me some BS to steer me in the direction of a mindless creature.
