We recently connected with Katelynn Griffey and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Katelynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of my favorite aspects of my business is getting to preserve bridal bouquets! I press wedding flowers to frame them or make them into jewelry so that their memory & vibrance can last a lifetime! I’ve really enjoyed getting to skillfully preserve special moments for my clients! It also allows me to work with a large variety of flowers, learning new techniques for each of them!
Along with that, I’ve been given the opportunity to preserve funeral flowers, preserving memories in a different light. This has a special place in my heart because my father passed away suddenly 4 years ago, and getting to do something for families experiencing similar grief has been a sweet way to remember those heavy seasons & empathize with others!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into making jewelry and home decor using pressed flowers by accident. A close friend of mine is someone who always inspires me to try new mediums of art. In January of 2023, we began experimenting with making pressed floral jewelry using resin and flowers we had pressed in other projects. After that, I tried some new abstract shapes and began to create designs reflective of the natural shape of the flower. Once I wore my pieces out, many friends and acquaintances wanted to have them as well and suggested I create more for people to purchase. This led me to officially open my business by selling my products in boutiques, farmers markets, and online! I’ve also enjoyed getting to inspire others in their creativity by hosting various custom events. I make jewelry, accessories, and home decor using pressed flowers from my garden or that I forage for in the woods. I feel that my unique and natural-based style sets me apart from mainstream vendors. I’m proud that I get to preserve nature in a way that reflects its given beauty. The methods I use to press flowers best preserve their shape and color according to each variation’s needs.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s most rewarding to me to be able to express my admiration of nature through my art, and allowing that to connect with people in my community. I’ve made friends with many who have similar interests while also building relationships with others whose lifestyle and perspective is different than mine. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to reach such a diverse audience and create connections.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Visit your local farmers markets and small business, and tell your friends about our work! It’s so much more rewarding shopping local!
