We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Matthew Paul a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Matthew, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
I represented a seller client in 2020, during the Covid pandemic and sold her property in less than two weeks by using virtual tour technology, proper pricing and marketing. The buyer was allowed to submit a letter to the seller explaining his reason for buying this particular property. This is back when “love letters” were legal. The seller loved the buyers story and had decided to accept his offer over higher offers. The seller was pleased with the sale price and his story which lead to a successful closing. Over four years later, I received a call from the buyer and the agent he had used had since passed away but he was looking to sell the property. He saved a picture of my real estate sign and called my number on it. After we spoke for the first time I realized how much of a positive situation it was for him and his family to purchase the home. He was able to get his kids into better schools and now they are off working great jobs outside of the area. This property helped to change the trajectory for his family which he is very grateful. Now I have the pleasure of working with a new client on the other side of a past transaction.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After working in the hospitality industry for years I decided to go into the construction business with my father. Eight years later I had compiling injuries that forced me to stop laboring and that is when I decided to get my real estate license. My interest in real estate started when I was living in NYC and the culmination of hospitality and construction was the perfect background for a real estate career.


Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been communication, follow up, being accessible and visible in your market.
