We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Beeson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At Willow Tree Tutoring, we believe that education is not one-size-fits-all. Unlike traditional tutoring services that focus solely on subject mastery and test prep, we take a holistic, science-backed approach to learning by incorporating psychology and neuroscience into our programs.
One of the key ways we diverge from the industry standard is through our personalized personality assessment, conducted during each student’s initial consultation. This assessment allows us to deeply understand how a student learns best, what motivates them, and which environments will foster their success. From there, we create customized strategies tailored to their unique cognitive and emotional needs.
Beyond just academic success, we also use these insights to help students identify career fields where they are most likely to thrive. We guide families through choosing colleges and degree programs with the best return on investment (ROI)—ensuring students not only pursue their passions but do so with financial and professional sustainability in mind.
One of our most rewarding experiences involved a student who had been struggling with traditional study methods. After their personality assessment, we discovered they were a highly kinesthetic learner who thrived in structured but hands-on environments. With this knowledge, we adapted their study strategies, recommended specific schools that aligned with their learning style, and even introduced them to career paths they had never considered—ultimately leading them to a field where they now excel.
By supporting every aspect of the college and career planning process, we empower students to make informed decisions about their future—ones that align with who they truly are, not just what they are expected to do.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Education has always been my passion, but more importantly, helping students see their own potential and thrive is what truly drives me. I started my career in the public school system, spending eight years in the classroom, where I had the privilege of working with students of all backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. But while I loved teaching, I quickly realized that the traditional system wasn’t built to nurture every student’s unique strengths.
Too many kids were falling through the cracks—not because they weren’t capable, but because they weren’t being taught in a way that made sense to them. I watched incredibly bright students struggle with self-doubt simply because they didn’t fit the mold of the “ideal” learner. I saw students with endless potential feel burned out, discouraged, or unsure of what came next. I knew I had to do something different.
That’s why I founded Willow Tree Tutoring in 2012—not just to tutor students, but to truly empower them. I wanted to create a space where each student’s learning style, strengths, and aspirations were at the core of their educational experience. Instead of forcing students into a rigid academic structure, I wanted to help them understand how their brain works, what excites them, and how to use that knowledge to carve out their future.
For me, this isn’t just about academics. It’s about showing students that they are capable, they are intelligent, and they are worthy of success—on their own terms. Every student I work with is more than just a grade or a test score; they are a person with dreams, talents, and a future full of possibilities. Helping them discover that? That’s why I do what I do.
What I’m Most Proud Of:
I’m incredibly proud of the work we do, but one of the biggest things I get to do is to witness students’ transformations. I’ve worked with students who started out believing they weren’t “smart enough” or that certain doors were permanently closed to them. I’ve seen kids who once dreaded school find confidence, excitement, and a sense of purpose when they finally learned in a way that made sense to them.
One student, in particular, struggled for years with traditional study methods, feeling overwhelmed and convinced that they weren’t cut out for higher education. After going through our personality and learning assessment, we discovered that their strengths lay in hands-on, structured environments. We adjusted their learning strategies, introduced them to careers they had never considered, and built a plan that aligned with their strengths and aspirations. Today, they are thriving in a career path that truly fits who they are, and they finally see themselves as capable and successful.
Moments like that—when a student finally realizes their worth and potential—are what I’m most proud of. Helping students go from doubt to confidence, from confusion to clarity, from feeling lost to finding their path—that’s why I do this work. That’s what makes it all worth it.
What I Want People to Know:
I want every student and parent to know that you are not alone in this journey. Whether your child is struggling in school, feeling uncertain about the future, or simply needs a learning approach that actually works for them, there is a path forward—and we can help you find it. At Willow Tree Tutoring, we use science, psychology, and real-world strategies to help students discover their strengths, develop confidence, and make informed decisions about their education and career.
Most importantly, we want students to know that success isn’t just about grades or standardized tests. It’s about understanding who you are, how you learn best, and what excites you about the future. Our goal is to help students thrive—not just in school, but in life. No student should ever feel like they aren’t “good enough” or that their future is out of reach. Every student is talented and capable of incredible things—we just help them see it.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
One of the most important things a leader can do is take the time to understand the different personality types on their team. Not everyone is motivated in the same way, and recognizing what drives each individual can make the difference between a thriving team and a frustrated one. For example, someone who is highly independent may feel stifled by constant check-ins and micromanagement. They thrive when given autonomy and trust, knowing they have the space to take ownership of their work. On the other hand, another team member may crave collaboration and verbal reassurance, feeling most engaged when they have regular conversations and check-ins. They might appreciate a few extra minutes of casual conversation in the hallway or a leader who actively listens and offers guidance. Similarly, a detail-oriented, structured thinker may need clear expectations and step-by-step processes, while a big-picture, creative thinker may feel most engaged when they have the freedom to explore new ideas. Taking the time to truly get to know your team—what energizes them, what frustrates them, and what makes them feel valued—creates an environment where everyone can do their best work in a way that suits them. When leaders adapt their approach based on who their people are, rather than expecting everyone to fit the same mold, morale skyrockets, and the entire team functions more effectively.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a female business owner, I’ve had to navigate plenty of challenges, but nothing tested my resilience more than the year I was forced to move offices three times—all due to a situation that should have never happened in the first place.
It started when my landlords refused to fix the heat in the building. I repeatedly asked for repairs, knowing that an unheated space in the middle of winter could lead to major problems. They ignored me. And then, on Christmas Eve, the inevitable happened—the pipes burst, flooding my office and destroying the space.
I was devastated, but I refused to let this stop me. I found an opportunity to fully design and build out a new office space—one that would be exactly what I wanted for my students and families. Even though this wasn’t my responsibility, I believed in the investment, so I paid the landlords for the construction myself and moved into the new space, excited for a fresh start.
Just when I thought things had finally settled, I was blindsided again. Three months later, the landlords refused to renew my lease and kicked me out. After pouring my time, energy, and money into creating the perfect space, I was now being forced to move for a third time in a single year.
It was one of the hardest years I’ve ever faced. The stress, uncertainty, and sheer exhaustion could have easily made me walk away. But I knew I couldn’t. I thought about the students and families who rely on me, the why behind my business, and the impact I’ve seen firsthand.
So, I refused to give up. I found a new space—one that truly feels like home—and kept going. That experience taught me that resilience isn’t about avoiding obstacles; it’s about pushing through them, no matter how unfair or exhausting they may be. I kept going because what I do matters, and no challenge will ever make me stop fighting for the students and families who trust me.
I spend every day encouraging my students to keep going, believe in themselves, and fight for what they want. What felt like a nightmare in the moment ended up being the perfect opportunity to show them exactly what I mean and exactly how much they mean to me. They saw me go through this experience and every client followed me to each new location because they saw how hard I was fighting for them. The trust built during that time is something no amount of money marketing could ever buy.
