We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kailynn Ford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kailynn below.
Hi Kailynn, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Growing up, I faced many obstacles that seemed impossible. There were many moments when I felt hopeless and weighed down. Nevertheless, I had to learn how to overcome the struggles so that I could succeed.
It took me time to find my way and push through when things got hard. For this reason, I wrote a book called Perfectly Imperfect. This book was created to inspire and empower teens and young adults to take control of their lives despite the opposition face in life. We have the power to change our destinies based on our reactions to trials. It consists of a series of real-life stories that teach you how to overcome obstacles, The stories are meant to encourage you to be your authentic selves and teach you to take control of your situation.

Kailynn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a recent graduate of Francis Marion University. In Fall of 2025, I intend to go to law school to study family law. I want to practice family law so I can make the change that is needed. I have many family members who were adopted. While they were growing up, I saw firsthand the challenges that very few people can understand. They had a constant need for validation so that they could know their worth and continuously searched for safety, even when they were around people who loved them. They did not see it because of the bad experiences they had gone through. Seeing them go through their challenges makes me want to create a positive change.
My desire to make a change is what caused me to write my book. I wanted to show others that they were going to make it. The book, Perfectly Imperfect, provides many life lessons for people who are going through various trials. Just as this book has helped many people, I strive to continue to help others and break down barriers. I will always do what I can to leave a place better than I found it.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of my job is being able to help people. I love the fact that I can use the obstacle I faced in my life to guide others in the right direction.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
While growing up in Chicago, I did not see many family members pursue higher education. Many of them choose to work after high school. Most of the few who decided to go to college dropped out. My parents are the first people in my family to graduate from college. Seeing their accomplishments growing up inspired me to strive for success. From a young age, I decided there was more for me than what many of my family members chose. In my family, I am the first person to not only graduate on time but also the first to choose the legal profession. When I graduate law school , I will break many other barriers for myself and my community.
