We were lucky to catch up with Michael Connor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
After a heart attack in 2016. I had a near death experience. Proceeded to start creat art for myself. It became an obsession

Michael, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Infinity’s Give and Take
A heart attack put me in an ambulance rushing to an emergency room.
As I was put into the back of the vehicle an EMT said “sir you’ve had a heart attack”
My immediate reaction was “oh shit” but then an immense calm.
Last I remembered until I was sitting up in the OR looking at everyone frantically doing stuff
And then nothing. Just a most gratifying sense of relief, security like I was plunging into water
Immersed and supported but freely moving. No sense of sight just feeling, sensing.
A Near Death Experience thing. But after that I began this journey of painting obsessively.
Now how do something with the experience and what was it anyway.
By serendipitous occurrences I listen to a talk by Samantha at an event in San Mateo Ca.several months before my heart attack and my cardiologist suggested I begin some mindfulness sessions. I called Samantha and that began my journey.
I spent a little over a year with Samantha and it was wonderful. I wasn’t the best student but she was amazing. With her help I left my career and Bay Area home behind. My wife and I were drawn by the Mendocino coast and that’s where we settled. That year was transformational.
I began my doing my art professionally and it has really taken off.
My life changed in a way that could never have imagined. The courage, strength and energy to move forward from the sessions with Samantha will be something I’ll never forget.
Seems like I was suppose to meet Samantha at exact time and that exact place in life.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
After that and with guidance from a meditation therapist I created over 300 pieces and had my first solo show in San Francisco. And have been doing it ever since.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Just do what’s comes natural to you and not get caught up in comparing
