We recently connected with Katharina Boger and have shared our conversation below.
Katharina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.
The best boss I’ve had in the music industry so far has been myself. If possible, I would advise everyone to become their own boss because it gives you more freedom, freedom to make your own decisions about which songs to record and release, which jobs to take or decline. The ability to create without someone telling you what to do is the best thing you can achieve. Of course, it’s important to stay open to working with other companies in the music industry, making deals, and continuously gaining experience. This helps you understand what’s possible and who you need on your team.

Katharina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
About Myself:
My mission is to be the first and the best in what I do, to constantly evolve, break limits and move with the times. Who knows, maybe I’ll be the first singer to perform on the moon :)! But first, let me share my story.
I was born on November 24 in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan and grew up in Leipzig, Germany. Later, I relocated to Los Angeles to work on my music. My cultural background is a key part of my artistry, I speak fluent Russian and German and started my musical journey at the age of four. Later on I wrote my first songs on the piano, which I learned to play at the renowned Johann Sebastian Bach Music School.
Musical Career:
In 2017, I released my debut EP “Bad Girl” in London, which gained me initial recognition in the music industry. Following that, in Los Angeles, California, where I worked with renowned producer Nicholas J. Turpin, who has collaborated with artists like Justin Bieber and David Guetta. My second EP, “Angels & Devils”, was released on April 19, 2019. With singles like “Have It” (2019), “Want Me Back” (2020), and “Breaking Rules” (2022), I continued to establish myself internationally. Most recently, in August 2023, I released performance videos of my latest songs.
Musical Style and Brand Message:
I blend Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rock‘n’Roll vibes to create a unique, genre-crossing sound. With millions of streams on Spotify and over a million followers across social media, I have built a dedicated fanbase worldwide. My music carries powerful, uplifting messages that resonate with a broad audience.
At the heart of my brand, “DAngel”, lies a duality, between Angel and Devil, rebellious, sweet, emotional, sassy and unstoppable, but never crossing into evil vibes. My core message is simple: Nothing is impossible as long as you believe in yourself and never give up.
What Sets Me Apart & My Mission:
What makes me stand out is my independence in the music industry. Being my own boss, I encourage others to take control of their careers whenever possible. This gives me the freedom to decide which songs I record and release, which opportunities I take and how I shape my artistic journey. However, I also value collaboration—working with industry professionals, making strategic deals and continuously learning.
I take pride in my journey and the barriers I’ve broken as an independent artist. My music isn’t just entertainment, it’s an experience, an energy and a movement. Through my songs, I want to inspire people to be confident, fearless, and unstoppable in chasing their dreams.
For those who may be discovering my music for the first time! Welcome to my world. I’m here to push boundaries, break rules, and create a legacy that transcends genres and expectations.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I think my goal is to be better every day than I was yesterday, to grow, to collaborate with as many talented people as possible, to learn and in the end, I hope that my “DAngel Gang”, the people who listen to my music and follow my journey keeps growing. I want my career to continuously evolve with time, with new inventions and with no limits to what can be achieved. Even if I were to become the sun, the biggest star in the sky. I would embrace it. ;)
But in the end, there’s no pressure. Is today already beautiful? Yes. Do I have my loved ones around me? Yes. Am I proud of what I’ve accomplished, even when no one believed in me before? Absolutely.
So, in a way, I’ve already won. And I’m ready to win and grow even more, together with you. I choose to focus on the positive, to look ahead instead of dwelling on the past or chasing old trends. The future is where my vision lies.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
You have to understand that when you release music, the big companies already have all the connections in place and established ways to solve problems. You will face many challenges where you’ll need to find solutions on your own.
For example, if you release songs independently, you don’t have protection on platforms like Spotify. With a large number of followers, both fans and haters can cause artificial streams and no one asks questions, your songs can simply be taken down. That’s the difference compared to major artists, for whom these issues get resolved behind the scenes. As an independent artist, you have to deal with everything yourself, while signed artists can focus mostly on the creative part, without worrying about the business and technical aspects.
There are pros and cons to both sides. If someone else is in control of your career, you have to accept their decisions and trust their process. But if you do it yourself, you have full control over how far you can take it. However, I wouldn’t recommend this path to anyone who isn’t social, doesn’t have strong nerves, or struggles to build connections. If you can handle that, you’ll always find solutions.
