We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cherie Corso a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cherie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
Yes, I’ve always been a creative. I wasn’t Art major and then I switched to business because people told me I wouldn’t be able to make money in the arts. I did have a successful business which I sold, but now it’s my turn to do the art and now I can combine my business and marketing knowledge with it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As an artist and Reiki master, I draw my energy from the people who pass by on the streets of New York—their movement, their stories, their diverse cultures—all of which inspire my work. The city’s pulse fuels my creativity, and I capture its rhythm through bold colors, layered textures, and deep symbolism. Each piece I create is not just a painting but a reflection of emotion, storytelling, and energy.
One of my most exciting projects that I’m working on right now is “The Pulse of New York”—five boroughs, five canvases—set to be completed in April. These canvases are rolled out in the middle of the street, allowing people to walk across them, leaving their footprints and imprints of their presence. Every person matters, everyone has a story, and everyone leaves their mark on New York. Later, I transform these raw marks into vibrant abstract works that capture the city’s heartbeat and the unspoken connections that make it so powerful. My goal is to capture an idea on canvas—the idea that energy, movement, and human connection are what make New York truly alive.
What sets my work apart is my ability to translate emotions into color, blending artistic technique with the spiritual intention of spreading positivity. Each piece takes hours to create, infused with Reiki energy to uplift and inspire. And one of the most special aspects of my art is that whenever you look at it, you will see something different. The layers, colors, and details shift with perspective, emotion, and time—allowing each viewer to experience their own personal connection to the piece.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative mission is to capture energy, movement, and human connection on canvas. Through bold colors, layered textures, and deep symbolism, I aim to bring positivity and emotion into the spaces where my art lives. As a Reiki master, I infuse each piece with healing energy, ensuring that my work is not just something to look at but something to feel.
I am driven by the idea that every person matters, every story deserves to be told, and every mark left behind has meaning. My work reflects the pulse of New York City—the people, the culture, and the ever-changing rhythm of life. One of my most exciting projects, The Pulse of New York, embodies this mission by allowing real people to leave their imprints on canvases that I transform into vibrant expressions of our collective energy.
My goal is for these five canvases to travel around the world so that those who participated can see their marks and others can witness the evolution of the work—like a moving photograph that captures the transformation of energy and time. Each layer tells a story, and as the canvases shift and evolve, they continue to reflect the movement of life itself.
Ultimately, my goal is to create art that inspires, uplifts, and evolves—pieces that reveal something new every time you look at them and that remind us all of the beauty and energy that surrounds us.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My creative journey is about capturing energy in motion—turning everyday moments into lasting expressions on canvas. With The Pulse of New York, I am bringing this vision to life by rolling out five canvases in five boroughs, each placed in a dynamic, unexpected location to absorb the energy of the city and its people.
I don’t just paint in a studio; I take my work to the heart of New York, laying the canvases in the middle of busy streets, subways, fashion houses, restaurants, or wherever life is happening. People walk across them, leave their footprints, interact with the space, and unknowingly become a part of the artwork. Every mark matters—whether from a rushed commuter, a curious child, or someone stopping to take it all in.
Back in my studio, I transform these raw imprints into vibrant, abstract pieces that reflect the movement and soul of each borough. Each layer tells a story, capturing not just what was seen but what was felt in that moment. My goal is for these five canvases to travel the world, so those who participated can see their marks and others can witness how the work has evolved—like a living photograph of energy, constantly shifting and revealing new perspectives.
This journey is more than just creating art—it’s about bringing people together, preserving fleeting moments, and proving that every person, every step, and every experience leaves an impact.
