We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sabe Anderson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sabe thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Music has been in my life from an early age, starting with the piano, which was my safe space during difficult times. Overcoming addiction and living with bipolar disorder shaped much of who I am today, but instead of defining me, these challenges became the source of my drive to explore health, music, and creativity as vehicles for healing and transformation. Music, which is also a powerful tool for healing, became a way to advocate for mental health awareness, personal development and communal well-being. I’m deeply connected to music and its healing power and too old in life to do music without purpose.

Sabe , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Sabe Anderson, a creative entrepreneur, musician, healthcare expert, and tech executive. My journey has been anything but linear, working across different industries while blending creativity, innovation, and leadership. What ties it all together is a commitment to using my experiences and skills to foster personal development, advocate for mental health, and create meaningful connections through music, technology, and education.
In the healthcare world, I found a passion for creating technological solutions that bridge the gap between medical professionals and patients. On the creative side, music continues to be my safe space. I like to write about things that I overcame. My songs are like my tattoos. I channel that energy into creating music that addresses mental health issues and provides a voice for others who may be navigating similar journeys.
Collaborating with renowned artists like Matt Fink (Prince and the Revolution), Rhonda Smith, and David Haymes has been a rewarding testament to the power of community and artistry. After a decade of putting the guitar and mic down, I yearned for music again and found Steve Phillips (guitar/producer) and began the BipolarBuck journey. Later on, Dan Pectol (drums) and Chris Elliott (LostboyX) joined us.
I believe what makes my work unique is the intersection of multiple worlds—technology, healthcare, business, music and my purpose. I always bring empathy and creativity to the table, focusing on authenticity and creating sounds that resonate deeply while raising awareness for mental health and wellness. I aim to foster positive change and inspire others to embrace their truths, rise from their challenges, and collaborate authentically. In that sense, music becomes a conduit for change and communal well-being. I want to build safe, inclusive spaces where artists and audiences can connect, heal, and thrive.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I believe BipolarBuck seeks a future where music and education intertwine. As mentioned before, I believe in music as a powerful conductor of change, a vessel for knowledge and a platform for dialogue. Advocating for issues that matter through compelling songs and authentic melodies can raise awareness and help us all build a safe space for artists, where integrity is revered and artistic identity is cherished along with communal well-being.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to inspire and connect with others who share similar journeys. There’s a profound power in knowing that my music and creative work can provide solace and encouragement or simply let someone know they’re not alone. Collaborating with artists who lift each other, especially through life’s darkest moments, is truly a gift. That sense of connection and mutual support keeps creativity alive and meaningful.
