Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tatiana Boyko. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tatiana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned through a combination of formal education, hands-on experience, and a lot of trial and error. The most valuable lessons came from simply creating—experimenting, refining my skills, and learning through the process itself. There’s so much that only time and practice can teach you.
Looking back, I don’t think there’s a shortcut to discovering your artistic voice. It’s a journey of self-discovery, and even when you feel like you’ve found it, you keep evolving and your work grows and changes with you. However, one thing that could have sped up my learning process would have been trusting my instincts more and sharing my work sooner rather than waiting for it to feel ‘perfect.’
One of my biggest obstacles was perfectionism—which, in reality, was just insecurity in disguise. Letting go of the need for perfection and embracing the process rather than just the outcome was a crucial part of my growth. Once I allowed myself to explore freely, I found more joy in creating and discovered new possibilities in my work.
The most essential skill, in my experience, is consistency—showing up and creating regularly, even when things don’t feel ideal. Sharing your work, even before you think it’s fully ‘ready,’ is also incredibly important. It not only helps you grow but also builds confidence and connection.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an illustrator and pattern designer with over a decade of experience creating bespoke, nature-inspired artwork. My work combines vibrant colours and intricate details to bring a distinctive touch to each collaboration, helping brands and publishers craft visually compelling stories.
Throughout my career, I have worked across multiple creative fields, including branding, advertising, packaging design, publishing, and editorial illustration. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned companies and institutions such as the Natural History Museum London, Walker Books, Starbucks, and Williams Sonoma, among others.
Deeply influenced by botanical art, folk traditions, and the Arts & Crafts movement, I combine traditional and digital techniques to create illustrations that feel both contemporary and hand-crafted. Whether designing a book cover, packaging, or a mural, I strive to bring beauty, depth, and meaning to every project.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to create something that resonates with others. Seeing my work out in the world and knowing it has connected with someone is incredibly fulfilling.
I also find immense satisfaction in the creative process itself—starting with a blank page and watching an idea evolve into something tangible. There’s a certain magic in that transformation, especially when a piece takes on a life of its own. Being an artist allows me to express myself, continuously grow, and bring a sense of wonder to the world—something I’ll never take for granted.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey is the desire to bring beauty, meaning and joy into everyday life through illustration. I strive to create work that draw people in—whether through a book cover that invites storytelling, packaging that elevates a product, or patterns that add a touch of artistry to the everyday.
I am passionate about preserving the timeless value of craftsmanship, and I strive to contribute to a legacy of thoughtful design, infusing each piece with warmth, intricacy, and care.
