Chris, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I think if given the choice, I would go back in time and convince my younger self to really push for my dream of becoming a rockstar. As early as I can remember whenever i was asked what I wanted to be when I grow up I would always say I wanna be a rockstar. There was always something appealing about living a life in the road singing my heart out to adoring fans. Growing up as the middle child of 5 in a lower middle class family tho, money was often limited and I never had access to instruments or anything like that so I never got the chance to really pursue my dream of shredding on guitar. Singing however, was always free and I found myself constantly singing growing up. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized I had a good voice and decided to do something about it. With the help of a couple of my friends I wrote my first single that released on Spotify and started really getting into the swing of music. Now I’m halfway through an album and can’t wait to continue making music and living my dream..
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Chris Graham, and I’m a vocalist song writer and solo artist known by the stage name C GRIMM. My music falls into the category of blues/classic rock and I think what sets me apart from other artists is my raw sound and the quality of my vocals. I got into the industry around 2021 during covid when I had tons of time on my hands and realized I’d spent too long not pursuing my dreams and poured my heart into the page and turned those lyrics into something that I’m proud to share and have been able to do. Recently I had my first live show ever and it was completely sold out. I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better welcome than a fully packed venue listening to the music I’d worked so hard to create
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, my music is my diary. Being able to put my emotions and experiences into my art and share it is both terrifying and cathartic. Knowing that people enjoy my music feels very validating because of how close the subject matter is to me
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My first band I started was great, the energy was great and we were making great stuff. However, our goals did not align. For me, music is my dream and my career whereas the rest of the group was more in it as a fun way to hangout. Nothing wrong with that, but I had to make the decision to part with them to pursue music in a more serious way
