Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Morgenstern. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I was helping friends for years before I got into the dating industry professionally. I was always passionate about my friends dating men who were respectful and treated them well, but so many were dating men who were not! I would constantly set up friends with guys I thought were more appropriate and after a few marriages, I decided to make it into a business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a dating coach and matchmaker working with men and women across the country to understand their dating obstacles so they can find and retain a healthy relationship. It’s important to outline your values in dating so you can meet someone who is aligned with you and your vision for life. With matchmaking, I am constantly recruiting people to my database to create a pool of people who are high-value and looking for a serious relationship. Matchmaking takes the stress of dating out so daters can focus on their connection and see if the chemistry is there. I ensure that both people are on the same page on the important things in life so they don’t have to ask boring interview questions on the date. Feedback from their dates gives me a unique perspective so we can work on any issues that are keeping them from getting a second date.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first entered the dating industry, I started a dating coaching business. I didn’t have a coaching background so while my information was good, I wasn’t sure how to share that with clients. I was introduced to a matchmaking company after a few months into dating coaching. I was eager to learn about the matchmaking business and felt that it was more aligned with what I wanted to offer clients.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Organic marketing has been the best source of new clients for me. Paid advertising never worked in my favor but through word of mouth and doing good work, organic marketing will naturally happen. On a Reddit thread, someone asked about NYC-based matchmakers and someone from my network recommended me, resulting in 2 paying clients. Doing good work for your clients will also encourage them to refer you to their network so you’ll always have a healthy pipeline of paying clients.
