Kimmy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I’ve been in the creator space since April 2020, initially posting trendy dance and comedy videos on TikTok for fun. Over time, I shifted into the fashion and beauty space to showcase my personal style and beginner-friendly makeup skills. In 2022, I started feeling discouraged, wondering why my content wasn’t reaching a larger audience or going viral on TikTok? I also began questioning why I cared so much about creating content in the first place? After all, it was just a fun weekend hobby.

Then in May 2023, it finally clicked! I lacked a clear vision and strategy for my social media platforms. This realization led me to define my purpose beyond just having fun. I established my core niches (fashion, beauty, and lifestyle), developed a strategy to bring my vision to life (outfit of the day posts, makeup tutorials, and fun places to visit), and created a content schedule to stay consistent.

By implementing these key pillars, I saw a significant improvement in my analytics on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. My community grew rapidly especially on YouTube, and brands started reaching out for collaborations. That was the moment I knew I wanted to pursue content creation professionally because I really enjoyed making engaging videos, inspiring my community, but also collaborating with brands who align with my vision.

Hi, I’m Kimmy! I’m a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content creator based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve built a space to share outfit inspirations, trendy fashion hauls, step-by-step makeup tutorials, beauty product reviews, hair vlogs, and exciting experiences in different cities.

My love for fashion began at a very young age, largely inspired by my mom. She played a pivotal role in shaping my sense of style, making fashion an integral part of my life. On weekends, we would visit different malls in search of stylish pieces for school or special occasions. She taught me the art of budgeting by finding fashionable, affordable clothing without overspending. Shopping quickly became something I truly enjoyed, as I looked forward to discovering the latest trends while catching great deals. More than anything, I loved how clothing made me feel and the self-expression it allowed. As I transitioned into adulthood, I redefined my personal style. I wanted my wardrobe to incorporate bold colors, chic, and trendy fashion pieces while still maintaining a casual streetwear style. In doing so, I began integrating fashion into my comedy videos on TikTok, which led to sharing outfit of the day looks with my followers. Today, this has become the foundation of my fashion content across all social media platforms. I didn’t develop a keen interest in makeup until I started seeing beauty creators share their tutorials on TikTok. I never imagined myself wearing makeup but suddenly I wanted to learn. At first, it was challenging but with practice and trial and error, I gradually got the hang of it. In 2021, I began sharing my own makeup tutorials on TikTok, and ever since, I’ve been providing my followers with makeup ideas to try for themselves. My journey into lifestyle content began when I started sharing hairstyle ideas, travel experiences, and entertainment venues both in Atlanta and other cities.

I create visually appealing content through photos and videos to highlight the latest trendy fashion pieces, beauty finds, and popular destinations to visit. Whether it’s an outfit of the day post or try-on haul, I prioritize providing detailed insights on each fashion item including fabric, material, pricing, and sizing. I also provide step-by-step makeup and lip combination tutorials through short-form content and YouTube vlogs. Additionally, I share personal experiences with cosmetic products through in-depth beauty reviews, covering key details such as the application process, ingredients, quality, texture, and overall effectiveness for my skin type. Beyond fashion and beauty, I offer recommendations through lifestyle vlogs, capturing key moments from my visits and providing valuable insights on food, location, parking, and pricing to enhance the viewer’s experience.

I help simplify the shopping experience for my followers by finding affordable stylish pieces for any occasion. I am dedicated to discovering, researching, and curating personalized shopping lists that showcase new outfit ideas, whether in-store or online that aligns with each individual’s personal style. Selecting beauty products for everyday makeup routines based on affordability, quality, and overall effectiveness. Finding the right foundation and concealer shade can be challenging, but by sharing my honest personal experiences, I help build trust, provide reassurance, and reduce uncertainty when purchasing new beauty products. Exploring popular entertainment venues in different cities and providing detailed reviews to help my viewers create lasting memories with family and friends.

What sets me apart from other creators is my relatability and storytelling. There’s nothing like building a community based on connection while also making viewers feel safe to ask questions, whether through comments or direct messages.
Storytelling is at the heart of my content, so crafting an editing style that truly reflects me has been a game-changer. It has allowed me to freely express myself, showcase my creative skills, highlight my vibrant personality, while also keeping viewers engaged.

I’m most proud of my consistency as it has helped me increase audience engagement, foster community building, and enhanced my growth and visibility across social media platforms. I want followers to feel captivated, confident, informed, and inspired when engaging with my content. I am very passionate about helping others so I strive to make my social media platforms a curated inspiration board for their fashion, beauty, and lifestyle needs.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

I want non-creatives to recognize content creation as a real profession. It’s far more than just setting up a camera and pressing record. Content creators work tirelessly to produce high quality content for brands and followers while meeting tight deadlines. On average, I spend most of my days brainstorming ideas, filming, editing, and uploading content across all my social media platforms, along with managing many other responsibilities as a creator. Ultimately, it’s a full-time job that requires dedication, strategy, and consistency just like any other career.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

When followers share that I’ve influenced them to purchase an item or try a popular entertainment venue, it’s incredibly rewarding. As a creator, it confirms that my content is resonating with my audience and that they value and trust my recommendations.
