Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brenden Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Brenden thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

Growing up as a little boy, I was also surrounded by music and those who were experts in it. It was then when I grew an unfathomable passion for it. While in those spaces, I would watch those figures, whom I looked up to, operate in their respective positions, and I would glean from them. It was specifically in my matriculation in college, when I watched my gospel choir director, Jefferey Lampkin, conduct the choir with such deftness and skill that initiated my interest in pursuing it professionally.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Brenden Jones, and I am a 21 year old professional background vocalist and director in Atlanta, GA. I’m originally from South Carolina, where I started out singing and training at a young age. Throughout my youth, I’ve sung with multiple choirs and chorales, led worship in different churches, put on many different performances, and arranged vocal parts for background vocals. Growing up in the world of musicality, I grew a deep passion for it and decided to pursue it professionally. It was in 2021 when I moved to Atlanta to get a jump start on working toward my goal. Upon moving here, I attended the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media where I acquired more gems to help toward becoming a better artist and musician. While attending school, I sung background at various churches in the Atlanta area as a startup to get some skin in the game. After doing that for a while, I was offered the position as a Vocal Director by Rodney Iler for Rodney Iler and Great Exchange. Since then, I’ve been working closely with them, honing in and working on our specific sound. And throughout working with them I’ve worked with multiple studio artists, tracking background vocals on different projects.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Inspiration is one of the main missions I plan to complete throughout my career. I share the same testimony as many other young people: just a young person trying to pursue their dreams. I want to be another example in my community that with faith, initiative, and hard work, anything that you put your mind to is obtainable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me, the most awarding aspect is the work itself. I gain self satisfaction when the product of what I’ve completed is more than adequate. Whether it’s tracking vocals for an artist or perfecting a groups sound, my hope is for the outcome to be excellent and exciting for the employer and audience.
