Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meg Petz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Meg, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Owning a business isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes far more work than most people realize (including me when I first started!). Success isn’t just about having a great idea and then starting the business—it takes determination, resilience, an open mindset, and persistence.
As a brand designer and strategist I’ve also been curious on what makes a business successful. What makes one business take off, grow fast, see results, while others don’t have that same experience. After looking at tons of businesses across different industries, I noticed the business’ that were having the most success were the ones that took the time to build their brand and continue building it every single day!
Having the visual side of a brand (aka the logos, colours, fonts imagery) are an essential part to creating a memorable feeling and experience when people find your business. But the business’ that think thats were building your brand ends are missing out on a huge opportunity to connect with their audience and create brand loyalty.
Because at the end of the day, a brand isn’t just something you get—it’s something you build. The businesses I see thriving are the ones that deeply know their audience and create ways to connect with them.
They understand what their audience is thinking, what they’re struggling with, and what excites them. And they weave that into everything—from their messaging to their content to the way they show up online. They don’t just sell—they build trust, recognition, and create a brand experience that keeps people coming back.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My first introduction to branding and web design was through a previous horse massage therapy business I owned. I loved learning the strategy, designing my own website, and seeing how all the pieces came together. I decided to outsource my logo because I had no idea how to create what I wanted.
I hired a designer and I was so excited to have them help me bring my vision to life, but the experience was nothing like what I expected. They didn’t listen, ignored my ideas, and what I got back wasn’t even close to what I wanted—even the colors were wrong. I felt unheard and frustrated, knowing there had to be a better way to approach branding.
So when COVID forced me to put my horse massage therapy business on hold for a bit, I decided to take my extra time to learn graphic design. I had realized that if I had, had such a terrible experience with getting my logo done, that there was bound to be others out there experiencing the same thing. I was determined to create an experience that was the complete opposite of what I had gone through. Because there’s nothing worse that not feeling confident or proud of how your business is being represented!
Now, I build brands that aren’t just beautiful but they actually feel like my clients. My process is very collaborative, I take the time to understand my clients, their audience, and their goals so their branding not only makes an impact but gives them the confidence to grow their business.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
In my experience, the most effective way to grow your clientele isn’t just about marketing—it’s about creating an experience that makes people excited to refer you to others
For me, that starts with three things:
1. Building a seamless brand experience
Your brand isn’t just your visuals—it’s every touchpoint your audience interacts with. From the moment someone lands on my Instagram to when they visit my website, I want them to feel like they’re stepping into a thoughtfully curated designed space that speaks directly to them. Clarity, consistency, and a strong brand presence build trust before we even start working together. I get a lot of clients because they just loved my branding.
2. Going beyond the deliverables
A great client experience isn’t just about handing over their deliverables—it’s about how you make your clients feel throughout the process. I focus on making every part of working with me feel effortless, supportive, and special. That means clear communication, personalized touches, and making sure my clients feel heard, seen, and supported.
3. Turning clients into raving fans
The best marketing strategy in my opinion? A client who loves working with you. The extra effort I put into making the process smooth, exciting, and valuable turns one-time clients into long-term advocates. Because when people love their experience, they’re not just happy with their service—they’re excited to tell everyone they know about it. And that’s how you create a business that grows organically.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my clients in a really natural way—whether it’s checking in to see how their brand is working for them, sending a quick message on important dates, or celebrating their wins with them. I also make sure they always have access to helpful resources, whether it’s through my House Call newsletter or sharing insights on Instagram to help them keep growing. And when a client refers someone my way, I always send a little thank-you—usually in the form of a Starbucks gift card, because who doesn’t love free coffee? It’s never just about the project for me—I genuinely care about the people I work with, and I want them to feel supported long after our work together is done.
