We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vanessa Jackson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
I firmly believe in the saying, “Go to them so they can come to you.” To me, that means putting yourself out there and creating opportunities to be seen—because when you do, your future clients will notice.
That’s exactly what I did. I knew I wanted to work with fashion businesses, so when I saw a post looking for local volunteer models for a runway event, I jumped at the chance. Did I know how to walk a runway? Not at all. But having watched every season of America’s Next Top Model, I figured I could hold my own—and I did.
At the event, I introduced myself to some of the top local boutique owners, exchanged names and emails, and left with a few smiles. That was all I needed. Once my systems were in place, I followed up with the boutiques, staying persistent yet professional, I got my first client which lead to more opportunities.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Vanessa, a digital creative specialist, entrepreneur, and content creator with a passion for helping brands and individuals bring their creative visions to life. My journey into this industry began with my love for fashion, marketing, and storytelling. Over the years, I’ve worked as a model, built multiple businesses, and developed expertise in social media strategy, branding, and digital marketing.
I own TiME (Take In Magical Experiences), a creative agency that helps brands and individuals create high-quality, strategic content. I specialize in social media management, branding, photoshoot direction, and content creation, offering services like posing guidance, location scouting, and digital marketing strategies. My goal is to make content creation easier for my clients by providing them with everything they need to stand out online.
I also run Unforgettable The Label, a family boutique that curates stylish, high-quality clothing for moms, kids, and babies. The brand is rooted in elegance, class, and empowerment, helping young women embrace a luxurious yet attainable lifestyle. A portion of our proceeds goes toward providing feminine products for young women in need, which is something I’m incredibly proud of.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend strategy with creativity. I don’t just create content—I make sure it aligns with a brand’s vision, audience, and goals. Whether it’s developing a unique social media strategy, curating a photoshoot, or crafting a compelling brand story, I bring a thoughtful, results-driven approach to everything I do.
Above all, I want my clients and followers to know that I’m deeply invested in their success. I understand the challenges of building a brand and standing out in the digital space because I’ve been there myself. My mission is to help others create impactful content, grow their brands, and ultimately, achieve their dreams.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In-Person Networking: The Game-Changer
In a world full of scammers and AI-generated interactions, many people have grown skeptical of digital connections. That’s why in-person networking has been my secret weapon for building a strong, loyal clientele.
Attending networking events allows me to share my story, connect with people on a personal level, and build genuine relationships that go beyond a screen. There’s something powerful about a face-to-face conversation, a handshake, and the energy of real human interaction that digital platforms just can’t replicate.
These real-life connections have not only helped me grow my business but have also led to collaborations, referrals, and long-term clients who trust me because they’ve met me in person. If you want to build a loyal audience, don’t underestimate the power of showing up, being present, and making meaningful connections in the real world.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
The Power of Communication & Boundaries in Client Relationships
Staying connected with your clients is key to building trust and long-term relationships. I prioritize open and comfortable communication, giving my clients the freedom to text me whenever they need—but I always respond on my own timing to maintain balance.
For my local clients, I take relationship-building a step further by meeting up for lunch every other month. We try a new local spot each time, making it a fun and engaging way to connect beyond just business.
At the same time, numbers don’t lie. I make sure my clients see real results by providing reports and updates on their progress, reinforcing the value of our work together.
However, setting boundaries is just as important. While open communication and personal connections strengthen client loyalty, clear boundaries help maintain professionalism and prevent burnout. It’s all about finding the right balance between being accessible and protecting your time and energy.
