We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kashia Palmer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with kashia below.
Hi Kashia, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Our family is very unique! We are a multi-racial adoptive family! Not one of us is the same but we make up our perfect family! My husband and I started cheering at a young age and went on to cheer at Weber State University. We never wanted to push our children into this sport or expect them to be a part of it. We adopted our first baby girl in 2016 and she started stunting the moment she could lock out her little knees! And each little girl followed after.. 3 times! We embrace each of our differences and celebrate those but we also all love that we can bond through such a fun, thrilling sport! We hope others can see that this sport brings so much to our family and stretches us in ways we never though we could and helps us trust each other in ways we never thought we would need to!

Kashia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We started sharing about our family about 6 months after we adopted our first baby girl. Bringing our followers along the ups and downs of adoption, as well as navigating our new life as a multi-racial family! We have loved learning from our community and also teaching them as well. When our oldest girl turned 3, we decided to pursue private adoption. Which led to one of our followers matching us with our second oldest daughter’s birth mother, who we adore! 18 months later, the bravest woman reached out to us via social media, to adopt her baby girl. Our 3rd baby came to us! We have taken our followers along all 3 of these journeys. We then went on to pursue our 4th adoption privately, which sadly turned into a scam. 1 year to the date of our scammed adoption, our 4th baby girl’s birth mom found us and we were able to bring her home with us!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We never thought by sharing our journey to start a family would bring us our platform. I am a firm believer on keeping your peace and also keeping what’s private, private. But I also believe in sharing the things that you’ve overcome and healed from. I knew and still know there is so much of our story that is ours to only know, but there is some that is beautiful and uplifting and healed from. When sharing about our family, I’ve always thought, ” do I want to be walking in the grocery store and looking at someone, knowing they know x y and z about me?” if i’m not comfortable answering yes, then it doesn’t need to be shared? I love scrolling through my social media and seeing positive, upbeat squares. So that’s what I share! The homecoming game where my 4 year old is stunting with all the cheerleaders and throws off her jacket to the audience, was a moment I knew would bring a smile to people’s faces. The time where my now 4 year old was able to meet her baby sister she waited for so long, I knew this would give other’s hope! Know what bring’s others joy and make’s people feel good! That is relatable! Uplifting others and finding the good is what everyone wants to be like!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to quickly learn that no one know’s your happiness or your life better than you. Comments, messages, threads, are not what dictate your life! I remember the first negative comment I received on social media. I was hurt, I was angry, I was confused! But I quickly learned that I didn’t need to be. Their opinion wasn’t going to change, they said what they said for all the world to see because they were adament that there opinion was the only right opinion. Which isn’t true! All that mattered was my inner voice and my little families. I quickly learned my confidence doesn’t like in KarenSmith7836 comment about me. My confidence lies in myself!
