We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Delores Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Delores below.
Delores, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Showing clients you appreciate them is something I think most folks want to do – but it’s not always clear how to do it in a meaningful way. What’s one of the best examples of client appreciation you can share with us?
One of the best ways I’ve ever shown a client appreciation was after helping a young family purchase their first home. They were relocating to South Florida for a new job opportunity and were understandably stressed about the transition. Throughout the process, I could tell how much finding the right home meant to them—it wasn’t just about the house, but creating a space for their growing family to thrive.
After closing, I surprised them by leaving a personalized welcome basket in their new home before they moved in. It included things like a custom cutting board with their last name engraved, some local goodies to introduce them to the area, and a handwritten note thanking them for trusting me with such an important step in their lives.
The look on their faces when they found it was priceless. The mom later told me that it made the house feel like home from the start. To me, this wasn’t just about the gift—it was about letting them know I genuinely cared about their happiness beyond the sale.
Moments like these are why I love what I do. My clients aren’t just transactions; they’re people with stories, and I want them to feel valued and appreciated every step of the way.
Delores, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Delores Williams, and I’m a Broker Associate based in South Florida, proudly serving clients across the entire state. With over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry, my journey began at the age of 13, when I assisted my family with mortgage processing. Those early experiences provided me with a unique foundation in real estate and inspired a lifelong passion for helping others navigate this pivotal part of life. Over the years, I’ve worked in various roles, including as a real estate paralegal, and now as a licensed real estate broker, which has given me extensive knowledge across many facets of the industry.
What truly sets me apart is my dedication to ongoing education and self-improvement. I’ve earned multiple certifications, designations and endorsements that enhance the value I bring to my clients:
ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative): A credential focused on delivering exceptional service to buyers, helping them navigate the market and make confident decisions.
AHWD (At Home With Diversity): A certification that underscores my ability to serve diverse communities with cultural sensitivity and understanding.
CPS (Certified Probate Specialist): The CPS certification signifies Delores’ expertise in handling probate real estate transactions. Probate sales can be complex, involving legal procedures and court approvals. With this designation, she can guide families and executors through the process with sensitivity and efficiency, ensuring a seamless sale while complying with probate laws.

MRP (Military Relocation Professional): This designation helps me specialize in assisting military families with relocations, addressing their unique needs and tight timelines.
RENE (Real Estate Negotiation Expert): This certification sharpens my negotiation skills, enabling me to secure the best terms and deals for my clients.
SFR (Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource Specialist): For homeowners facing financial difficulties, the SFR® certification equips Delores with the skills to handle short sales and foreclosure transactions. She assists sellers in navigating lender negotiations, avoiding foreclosure, and finding solutions that minimize financial hardship. For buyers, she provides insight into purchasing distressed properties successfully.
SRS (Seller Representative Specialist): This designation equips me with advanced strategies to effectively represent sellers, ensuring they maximize their home’s value and receive the best possible outcomes.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients over the years. I believe in taking a personalized approach, ensuring that each client feels supported, informed, and confident throughout the process. From negotiating fiercely on their behalf to walking them through the smallest details, I treat every transaction as if it were my own.
If you’re looking for a Realtor® who combines years of experience with a genuine commitment to your success, I’d be honored to work with you. Together, we can achieve your real estate dreams and make the process one to celebrate.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining moments of resilience in my career happened with a single mom I worked with who was trying to buy her first home. She had been through so much—balancing two jobs, raising her kids, and saving every penny she could to make her dream of homeownership a reality. She reminded me of my own family’s story and how hard we worked for stability, so I felt a personal connection to her journey.
We found a home that checked all the boxes for her family, but then the challenges began. The seller received a higher offer after verbally accepting hers, and suddenly, they were hesitant to move forward. My client was devastated, and I could see the fear in her eyes that this dream might slip away. I reassured her that we weren’t going to give up.
I went back to the seller’s agent, advocating fiercely for my client. I highlighted her commitment, her solid financing, and the fact that she was already emotionally invested in this home. I also had to get creative, suggesting slight adjustments to the offer that didn’t strain her budget but made the deal more appealing to the sellers.
It was days of back-and-forth, but in the end, the seller chose to honor their agreement. I’ll never forget calling her to share the good news—she burst into tears, and so did I. At that moment, it wasn’t just about the transaction; it was about helping a mother create a safe, stable space for her family.
That experience taught me that resilience is more than persistence; it’s about showing up for your clients with heart, empathy, and determination, no matter the obstacles. Moments like that are why I do what I do—it’s not just about closing deals; it’s about changing lives.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that asking for help was a sign of weakness. Growing up, I always prided myself on being the strong one—someone who could carry their burdens without leaning on anyone. It was something I learned early, watching my family work hard and push through challenges without complaint. I thought that strength meant going it alone.
That belief stayed with me for a long time, but life has a way of teaching you lessons when you least expect them. A few years ago, I went through a tough time that left me feeling overwhelmed. I was juggling work, personal struggles, and family obligations, all while trying to keep a brave face. I didn’t want anyone to see that I was struggling—I thought admitting that would make me look incapable.
One evening, a close friend noticed something was off and asked if I was okay. At first, I brushed it off, saying, “I’m fine.” But they didn’t let it go. Instead, they said, “You’re always there for everyone else. Let us be here for you.” That simple statement broke something open in me, and I finally admitted how much I was carrying.
What I learned in that moment was life-changing: there’s strength in vulnerability. Letting others in isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of trust and connection. The people who care about you want to support you, just like you’d support them.
Since then, I’ve made it a point to lean on my circle when I need to. I’ve realized that being strong doesn’t mean doing it all alone—it means knowing when to reach out and let others share the load. That lesson has not only made me a better friend and family member, but it’s also deepened my relationships in ways I never imagined.
