Alright, Donovan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I came up with the concept for Caseitbreaks about 4-5 years ago and the idea was to only sell phone cases and accessories online through e-commerce platform Shopify. it went well with the initial launch but sells started to decline because of poor marketing techniques and simply not having the right suppliers on hand to get orders out in a timely fashion. This was year 2018 and I nearly gave up on the business in its entirety up until year 2020 when the pandemic came into effect and jobs were being lost left and right including my own at the time. I was left with this company I already started and presented to the world and for me failure wasn’t an option so I kicked it into high gear and came up with another concept of offering a need-based service that no one could resist when they needed it. This idea and decision would support the company I already and is what propelled Caseitbreaks 2.0.

Caseitbreaks is premier electronic company in Atlanta, Ga providing quality repairs and services throughout the greater Atlanta area. We specialize in iPhone, iPad, and Samsung repairs. All of our parts are premium quality giving customers the best experience when they use our services. On a typical day, we run into many issues with repairing devices but how we solve it which we always do has been the ultimate success to the business. What sets us apart from our competitors is that we offer open availability through mobile services which allows customers a convenient experience to get their devices fixed in the comfort of their home or workplace. What I am most proud of is the growth and consistency of customers we were able to capture in only a matter of 2 years of being in business. We offer a tailored approach to all of our customers this way we make sure everyone receives a personal experience when doing business with our company.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When it came to funding the business it took hard work and a leap of faith. I had no investors or anyone really to put any financial backing behind the company. I literally had enough saved from the job i was working at the time which I wasn’t working anymore due to the pandemic and I put all the money into getting the tools, and inventory I needed to open up shop.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
At time I’ll never forget, was in the beginning of doing repairs I really had no idea what I was doing. Everything I learned at this point was from countless Youtube videos and trial and error. My late friend Bryce sent me my first official customer and she had two iPhone 7s that needed repairing for her children and I couldn’t figure out how to get a display on both phones. It took nearly two weeks to figure out what I was doing wrong and that’s when I came to the conclusion that maybe this isn’t the right business for me Bryce assured me I can do it and in hindsight he would of been great with helping me with customer service because I did’t know what to tell the customer as to why I couldn’t fix her phones but Bryce took care of that and gave me the confidence to keep going and ever since that day I never doubted myself in this business no matter how strenuous the job got I knew there was a solution as long as I had the right resources on hand.
