We recently connected with Dieudonne Bender and have shared our conversation below.
Dieudonne, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Naming my business was a deeply personal journey that reflects both my values and my life experiences. After working for the State of Florida, I faced the challenge of affording childcare while balancing my career aspirations and family life. This led me to the decision to become a stay-at-home mom, where I could be present for my children while still contributing financially to our household.
In choosing a name for my business, I wanted to honor this pivotal moment in my life. I decided to name the company after my son, symbolizing the core reason for my entrepreneurial journey: the desire for flexibility to raise my children while pursuing my professional goals. This name serves as a constant reminder of my commitment to both my family and my work. Today, I not only run my own business but also contract and refer other stay-at-home mothers for various positions, empowering them to find a balance between traditional family values and financial independence. Through this venture, I strive to create opportunities for women to thrive both at home and in their careers.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a dedicated entrepreneur and a passionate advocate for work-life balance, driven by my journey as a stay-at-home mom. My path into this industry began during my time working for the State of Florida, where I encountered the challenges of affording childcare while pursuing my career. Faced with the need to contribute to my family’s income without sacrificing precious time with my children, I made the bold decision to start my own business from home.
I founded my company, named after my son, to provide flexible opportunities for other stay-at-home mothers who share similar aspirations. My business focuses on offering administrative support and virtual assistant services tailored to the unique needs of small to medium-sized businesses. By contracting and referring skilled mothers for various positions, I empower them to achieve financial independence while maintaining their roles at home.
The problems I solve for my clients revolve around their need for reliable, efficient support to manage administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on their core business activities. I understand the importance of trust and communication in remote work, which is why I emphasize building strong relationships with both clients and team members. What sets me apart from others in the industry is my commitment to fostering a supportive community for mothers, ensuring they can thrive both professionally and personally.
I take immense pride in the impact my business has had on the lives of the women I work with, helping them find fulfillment in both their careers and their family lives. The ability to create a flexible work environment where mothers can excel is what drives me each day.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that my brand is built on a foundation of empathy, integrity, and empowerment. I am dedicated to creating opportunities that not only support businesses but also uplift families and foster a sense of community among working mothers. Together, we can redefine success, balancing professional growth with the joys of parenthood.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I decided to start my business, the initial challenge was securing the capital needed to get off the ground. I turned to credit cards as a means of funding, a choice I made out of necessity. While this strategy provided me with the immediate resources to launch my venture, I’ve learned that it can lead to a significant debt burden, which is something I do not recommend to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Using credit cards allowed me to cover essential startup costs such as setting up a website, purchasing necessary software, and marketing my services. However, I quickly realized that starting my business in debt was a double-edged sword, and it added pressure to generate income swiftly to manage repayments.
Reflecting on this experience, I encourage others to explore alternative funding options, such as savings, small business grants, or community resources, which can provide a more sustainable financial foundation. While my journey began with credit cards, the lessons learned have shaped my approach to financial management as I continue to grow my business. Today, I prioritize creating a budget and seeking out cost-effective solutions, ensuring that I build a stable and successful enterprise without the weight of debt.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A significant moment in my entrepreneurial journey came when a key client’s company underwent a major restructuring and ultimately split into two separate entities. This unexpected change had a profound financial impact on my business and my team, as we relied heavily on the work we were providing for them.
As news of the split unfolded, I quickly realized that our ongoing contracts would be affected, leading to reduced income and uncertainty for my team. Faced with this challenge, I knew I needed to pivot swiftly to ensure the sustainability of my business.
First, I conducted a thorough assessment of our current client roster and identified potential opportunities for diversifying our services. I reached out to existing clients to explore additional needs they might have and sought referrals to expand our network. I also began actively networking within my industry to identify new partnerships and projects.
Simultaneously, I communicated transparently with my team about the situation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and creativity during this transition. Together, we brainstormed new service offerings that could attract different clients, such as specialized virtual assistant packages tailored to small businesses.
Within a few months, our efforts began to pay off. We secured several new clients, and I implemented a more robust marketing strategy that highlighted our expanded services. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability in business. It reinforced my belief in maintaining open communication with my team and being proactive in seeking opportunities, even in the face of adversity.
Ultimately, this pivot not only stabilized our financial situation but also positioned us for future growth. I learned that challenges can serve as catalysts for innovation, and I emerged from this experience more equipped to navigate the unpredictable nature of entrepreneurship.
