We were lucky to catch up with Luis Gerardo Romero recently and have shared our conversation below.
Luis Gerardo , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Scala started with a simple idea: why not do what we love, but together? Before Scala, the three of us—Luis Romero, Eduardo Brito, and Litzy Koga—were all working on creative projects like videos, websites, and branding, mostly helping out friends who were also business owners. We didn’t think much of it at first; we just wanted to support people we cared about.
One day, we found ourselves sitting and talking, reflecting on everything we were doing. Someone asked, “What are we doing? Why don’t we just team up and turn this into something real? A business where we can keep helping others but also build something for ourselves?” It was one of those lightbulb moments that just felt right.
In August 2023, we made it official and opened Scala, getting our LLC and diving into this dream together. The three of us—proudly from Mexico—share a deep love for creativity and a desire to make a difference. Starting Scala wasn’t just about making a living; it was about combining our passions and talents to create something meaningful.
What started as friends helping friends has grown into something we’re all incredibly proud of. Scala is more than a business—it’s a reflection of who we are and the belief that together, we can make a bigger impact than we ever could alone.

Luis Gerardo , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When we started Scala, we thought we’d have to knock on doors to introduce ourselves and find clients. But the reality was completely different. Even before we officially opened our doors in August 2023, we already had a list of clients waiting for our services. Each of us—Luis Romero, Eduardo Brito, and Litzy Koga—was known in our circles for the work we were doing individually, whether it was videos, websites, or branding. Scala wasn’t just the start of a business; it was the formalization of the creative work we were already passionate about.
At Scala, we provide a wide range of creative services. From crafting compelling branding to designing beautiful websites and producing captivating video content, our goal is to help businesses tell their stories in authentic and impactful ways. We don’t just deliver creative work—we solve problems. Whether it’s building a brand from the ground up, increasing online visibility, or helping businesses connect with their audiences through storytelling, we’re here to make our clients’ visions come to life.
What sets us apart is our personal connection to our work. As three Mexican creatives, we infuse every project with heart, authenticity, and a deep understanding of the communities we serve. We’re not just another agency; we’re partners who genuinely care about the success of our clients.
What we’re most proud of is the trust we’ve built. The fact that clients sought us out even before Scala officially existed speaks volumes about the relationships and reputation we’ve cultivated. It’s a testament to our dedication and the quality of our work.
For anyone looking to work with us, we want you to know that Scala is more than a business—it’s a reflection of our shared passion for creativity, collaboration, and helping others succeed. We’re here to bring your ideas to life and turn challenges into opportunities for growth.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our goal has always been simple: to help. From the very beginning, we’ve worked hand in hand with small businesses, witnessing firsthand how impactful great branding, a well-designed website, or a compelling video can be. These aren’t just creative projects to us—they’re tools that can elevate a business, help it connect with its audience, and ultimately succeed.
What drives us is the knowledge that our work can make a real difference. Every business we help isn’t just another client; it’s someone’s dream, their hard work, and their passion. Knowing that our creative skills can support those dreams is what keeps us going.
Our mission is to continue helping businesses—big or small—with their marketing needs, making sure they have the tools to stand out and thrive in today’s competitive landscape. For us, it’s not just about creativity; it’s about creating solutions that work.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
We’re proud to say that starting Scala didn’t require a large initial investment. When it came to the creative side, we worked with what we already had—our computers, creativity, and passion. We shot videos on our phones, took photos with a camera we already owned, and focused on delivering great results using the resources available to us.
At the beginning, every single project we took on was done for free. This wasn’t just about gaining experience—it was about building brand awareness and trust. We believed in showing people what we were capable of, and once they started believing in us, they began referring us to others. That’s when things started to take off.
Instead of paying ourselves from the money we earned, we reinvested everything back into Scala. With each project, we upgraded—investing in the best cameras, the best software, and all the tools we needed to deliver even higher-quality work.
Our journey has been fueled by creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to earning the trust of our clients. Every piece of equipment we’ve added and every step we’ve taken reflects the belief that when you invest in yourself, success will follow.
