We recently connected with Garett Goodman and have shared our conversation below.
Garett, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Excellent question- I was at one of our restaurants and a mother and son where there for the sons birthday, He had a broken had and the mother was sitting and cutting the food so that the son could eat. We saw this as an opportunity to make an impactful moment with our customers. One of our store managers sat with them and cut the food for the son so that the mother could eat hot food along side with her son, It was a beautiful moment that made me extremely proud.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Garett and I am the founder of How Ya Dough’n?
My wife and I started HYD out of our backyard during covid. We would post a menu on instagram and customers would preorder their pizza. We would sell out within minutes of posting our menu every week, After seeing that we were selling out one day a week we moved on to 2 days a week. After 2 years on selling out time and time again we decided to sell our portion of our previous business back to our friends and business partners. We took that money and rolled it into our first store. It’s been a massive success since day one, In 3 years we currently have 3 stores open, Two in Boca Raton and one in Boynton Beach. We also have 2 additional stores we plan to open this year. One in Coral Springs and the other in Las Vegas
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One of the most important parts of our business model if not the most boils down to our customer service. We fully understand the quality of the products we sell every day at the restaurant , We believe that if the quality of our customer service can exceed the quality of our food there is a 0% chance anyone can do better than us in the market place. We pride ourselves on our ability to bring over the top CS no matter what it costs!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When we were getting ready to open the doors to our first store we had a MAJOR crisis with our dough, There was a change in humidity as well as the oven we moved over to and our dough from the backyard did not translate well to the new pizza oven and environment we were working in. Asa. result I was forced to make test tubes of dough and different sour dough starters. I slept on the food at the restaurant until we were able to find a solution,
