Alright, Jennette thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Jennette Powell is the proud of owner of Ti’Maya Naturals (Natural’e, Locs, Coils, Twist, Salon), a company that specializes in servicing the natural grooming community.
After diving into the haircare industry in 2006, Jennette quickly found her passion and purpose in the cultivation of healthy hair. Ti’Maya Naturals is
Named after Jennette’s children,
Titianna & Amaya. Leaving a legacy to my daughters .

Jennette , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Jennette noticed there was always something missing. So, in 2010, she decided to combine her knowledge of the natural haircare industry with her B.A. in Business Administration and create her own line of products, Ti’Maya Naturals is a natural and loc product line for hair. All the products consist of ingredients that promote healthy hair growth and moisturize the scalp. Recently, Ti’Maya Naturals has broadened the product line and introduced a Men’s Grooming line that give men a healthy, shiny beard, and the confidence to wear it with pride. Ti’Maya Naturals also has a product to treat skin disorders. This product is close to Jennette’s heart as Jennette herself is living with disabilities.
Jennette was born deaf and blind and grew up in a dysfunctional group home. However, despite what many would perceive as a setback, Jennette turned into a strength. The single mother of two knew nothing was going to stop her from achieving her goals and leaving a legacy behind for her children. So, in addition to running Ti’Maya Naturals, Jennette is a licensed stylist and instructor. As an instructor, she designs natural hair training plans for her students and teaches various beauty courses to demonstrate techniques working with natural beauty products. Within the industry, Jennette is affectionately known as the Herbal Loctician.
While teaching about natural hair is her passion, service is Jennette’s calling. She gives back to her community in several ways from helping community kids in need and assisting the homeless to visiting rest homes. She loves to use her dazzling personality and generous charm to instill confidence in others. Her personal mission is to put a smile on the face of everyone she encounters, and for every client that leaves her chair to leave happy and feeling better about themselves than when they initially sat down.
