We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ab Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with AB below.
Hi AB, thanks for joining us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
One of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me was believing in me when I didn’t fully believe in myself. Growing up in a close-knit but low-income community, opportunities weren’t always easy to come by. However, my mother, instilled in me faith, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose. Before I was even born, she prayed and fasted for my life, trusting God to bring me into the world. That unwavering belief became the foundation of who I am today.
That kindness—believing in me before I could fully see it in myself—has shaped the course of my life. It’s what led me to work with incredible individuals like Eddie James, Dr. Kent C. Keys, M.D., and Dr. Earnest Pugh, to establish The A. Brown Agency, LLC, and to pursue my calling as both a leader and a funeral director in training. Their investment in me fuels my passion to do the same for others—helping them recognize their potential, step into their purpose, and move toward their destiny with confidence.
Kindness isn’t always found in a single grand gesture; sometimes, it’s the consistent support and unwavering belief of those who refuse to let you settle for less than you’re capable of. And for that, I am forever grateful.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
About Me & My Journey
My name is Abriam Brown, and my journey has been deeply rooted in faith, service, and the pursuit of excellence. I was born into a close-knit yet under-resourced community where resilience and determination were instilled in me from an early age. My late mother, Evangelist Doris F. Brown, set the foundation for my life with her unwavering belief in me, praying and fasting for my very existence before I was even born. That legacy of faith has shaped everything I do today.
From an early age, I knew I was called to serve, lead, and uplift others. I got my start in ministry, working under the mentorship of Iris Ervin, Dr. Monte Abner, Minister Lisa Knowles-Smith, and Minister Marcus Smith. They didn’t just give me a place to serve—they poured into me, equipping me with the skills and confidence to lead.
Those early experiences set the stage for my career in the entertainment and business industries. I spent four years traveling as a personal assistant to recording artist Eddie James, gaining firsthand experience in artist management, operations, and executive support. Today, I serve as the executive assistant to Stellar Award-winning artist Dr. Earnest Pugh, a role that has allowed me to further refine my skills in business administration, brand development, and event logistics.
In addition to my work in entertainment and business, I have spent the last six years as an ophthalmologist assistant for Dr. Kent C. Keys, M.D. This role has strengthened my ability to manage complex schedules, pay close attention to detail, and provide high-quality patient care. Working in the medical field has reinforced my passion for service, as I assist patients in receiving the best possible eye care while ensuring smooth and efficient operations in the practice.
My Business: The A. Brown Agency, LLC
Recognizing the need for high-level executive and operational support, I launched The A. Brown Agency, LLC, a business dedicated to helping individuals and organizations maximize their productivity and efficiency. My agency acts as an extension of my clients, streamlining their work, managing their time, and helping them make better decisions so they can focus on their core mission.
Through The A. Brown Agency, LLC, I provide services such as:
• Executive Assistance & Administrative Support – Helping high-level professionals manage their schedules, communication, and workflow.
• Brand & Business Development – Assisting creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals in refining their brand identity, structuring their business, and developing strategies for growth.
• Event & Tour Management – Coordinating and managing logistics for artists, ministries, and organizations to ensure seamless and successful events.
What sets me apart is my commitment to excellence, organization, and integrity. I don’t just offer services—I provide solutions that allow my clients to operate at their highest capacity. I believe that success isn’t about working harder, but about working smarter, and I help my clients do just that.
My Expanding Mission
In addition to my work in business and entertainment, I have a deep passion for the funeral service industry. Inspired by my grandmother’s mentorship, I am currently a Funeral Director in training, pursuing my mortuary school education with plans to graduate in 2025. My goal is to return to my community and serve families with dignity and compassion, ensuring that their loved ones are honored with excellence.
What I’m Most Proud Of & My Message to Others
I am most proud of my ability to turn challenges into opportunities and to help others do the same. My journey has taught me that success isn’t about where you start—it’s about how you move forward with faith, consistency, and strategy.
Whether through executive support, brand development, funeral service, or healthcare, my mission remains the same: to serve with excellence, empower others, and create lasting impact.
To anyone reading this, I want you to know that your beginnings do not define your destiny. No matter where you come from, you have the power to rise, thrive, and lead. It all starts with a decision to believe in yourself, stay the course, and walk boldly into your purpose.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first started working with Dr. Kent C. Keys, I was new to the medical field and faced the challenge of learning a complex set of skills quickly. One day, we had a large group of patients with urgent needs, and I was tasked with assisting in a way that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Through perseverance, I kept a clear mind, learned on the spot, and ensured the patients received the care they needed, which proved to me that resilience is about adapting and rising to the occasion, even when you’re unsure.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that success always comes from working harder, not smarter. Early in my career, I believed the only way to achieve anything was through constant hustle and long hours, pushing myself to the limit. However, after experiencing burnout and realizing I was sacrificing my well-being, I learned that true success comes from working efficiently, setting boundaries, and balancing hard work with self-care. This shift allowed me to be more effective and fulfilled in both my personal and professional life.
