We were lucky to catch up with Tessa Cain recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tessa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

My parents have played an integral role in shaping who I am today, both personally and professionally. They instilled values that have guided me through life and helped me grow into the person I am. From my father, I inherited a strong work ethic, dedication, and the ability to persevere no matter the challenge. He taught me the importance of hard work, always leading by example. I recall countless times when he worked long hours, never complaining, just getting things done with an unwavering focus. His commitment to his work and family showed me the importance of staying resilient and putting in the effort, even when things aren’t easy. My mother, on the other hand, taught me the value of compassion, kindness, and strength in vulnerability. She always took time to listen, care for others, and showed me the power of empathy in all relationships. I remember one instance where a close family friend was going through a tough time, and my mom stepped in to help without hesitation, offering support and understanding. Her ability to maintain a balance of kindness and strength, even in difficult situations, has had a profound impact on my career. It’s inspired me to approach both personal and professional relationships with empathy and to always lead with a sense of compassion.

I’m a model with a passion for the fashion and creative industries, focused on runway walking, photoshoots, and building a strong, consistent portfolio. My journey into modeling started with a deep fascination for fashion and expression through visual art. Over time, I found myself drawn to the modeling world, where I could combine my love for creativity and my desire to share unique stories through my work. I specialize in runway shows and photoshoots, but my focus is always on staying consistent and continuously improving my craft. I understand that in this industry, it’s important to put in the effort day in and day out, and I aim to build a portfolio that reflects both my versatility and dedication. Each project I take on is an opportunity to learn, grow, and push boundaries in ways that keep me evolving. The main problem I aim to solve for my clients is creating compelling visual stories that resonate with their audience. Whether it’s walking the runway with confidence or capturing the perfect shot in a photoshoot, I’m committed to making every project memorable and impactful. What sets me apart from others is my dedication to constant improvement, my focus on professionalism, and my ability to connect with the vision of the brand or photographer I’m working with. I understand that each project is a collaborative effort, and I approach every opportunity with that mindset. What I’m most proud of is the growth I’ve achieved so far and the progress I continue to make with each shoot and runway show. I’m driven by the idea that there’s always room to push myself further, and I’m excited for the opportunities to continue building my career. How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

To best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem, society must first recognize and value the immense contribution that art and creativity make to culture, economy, and human connection. One of the key ways to support this is through fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and innovation. Providing platforms for artists to showcase their work, whether through galleries, fashion shows, performances, or digital spaces, is essential for exposure and growth. we need to foster a mindset that celebrates and rewards creativity in all its forms, whether it’s traditional art, digital media, fashion, music, or design. Equally important is the education and mentorship available to young or aspiring creatives. Schools, workshops, and mentorship programs can provide the skills, guidance, and industry knowledge that help artists navigate their career paths more effectively. Creating a network of support in the form of professional development opportunities, industry connections, and mentorship can make a tremendous difference in an artist’s ability to succeed. Society can continue to support artists by buying their work, attending events, and simply recognizing the value of creative expression in everyday life. By elevating the status of artists and creatives, we cultivate a thriving ecosystem where creativity is seen as a vital force for progress, connection, and cultural enrichment.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Yes, there is a clear goal driving my creative journey—my ultimate mission is to continue growing and evolving in the fashion and modeling industry, with the dream of one day gracing the pages of Vogue and walking in major fashion shows, like those for brands such as Marc Jacobs. While I’m working hard to build my portfolio and gain experience, I stay focused on consistently improving my craft and staying true to my passion for modeling. Every step I take, whether it’s runway walking or photoshoots, is part of the bigger picture of reaching those milestones.
