We recently connected with Keeley Wolf and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Keeley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I have always been passionate and thoughtful about comedy. When I first started performing, I would research and ask questions. Such as “How do you write a joke?” Or “How do you connect the audience to your material?” Those were the questions I brought with me when I decided to attend a comedy class. This helped me to conduct and write jokes that not only resonated with my life but also captivated my audience.
When I first started, I thought the only way to get better is to perform your material. I was incorrect, it was about writing and delivering my jokes to the audience placed in front of me. I was told “the most genuine humor comes from real life”. I ran with that advice and I’m grateful for the beginning of my journey.
The most essential skill I learned was to listen and have patience. Everything worth doing, comes with time. My humor gets me through even the toughest of days and I know it has the power to do the same for others that relate to my story.
My number one obstacle was myself, it is true what they say, “You are your worst critic”, but I also learned I have to be my biggest supporter. Doubt keeps you from learning more and progressing. You must be your biggest cheerleader because you must believe in yourself first.

Keeley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The community connected with me and I started finding locations to perform. In April 2022, I performed at my first open mic in Chandler, AZ at Micdrop Mania. I did not succeed at my first open mic but I decided to continue performing and improving. My career has grown and changed in the last three years I have been performing.
I had been performing for 3 months before I was booked on my first paid gig. This is when I dived into the marketing levels on social media. I started promoting and quickly became one of the first comedians in Arizona to throughly market my upcoming performances.
Marketing and promotion have always been one of the elements I’m most proud of to possess. Not very many individuals will post or share about their upcoming shows. I wanted to be different and set an example. Over the upcoming years of performing, others have used the same tactic and it has improved their audience attendance and ability to be booked.
If you are passionate about something, never be afraid to be an example. Lead by example and do not be afraid to try something new even if you don’t see others doing it.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I had just hit my first rough patch in my career. In August 2023, I fractured my ankle in three places and I didn’t learn how to walk again until January 2024. Three days after fracturing my ankle, I had a show booked and 14 people that bought tickets to see me perform. I had to do the only thing I knew how to do, put on a show and make them laugh. To this day, this is still one of my performances I love to watch. Not because of the material or even the performance, but because of the ability to continue doing what I love. I never let it stop me, it only slowed me down. During my hiatus, I was told “you’ll never have down time like this again”, they were right! Just this year I have performed in over 20 booked shows.
I live by the rule of thumb that “everything happens for a reason”. Everything that has happened during my career has only made me improve. It’s not about how many times you get knocked down, it’s about how many times you choose to get back up.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
There is several easy and affordable ways to support artists and entertainment. The easiest and fastest would be to share their content, whether that’s online or in person. This boosts their engagment and helps them grow as a creator.
We love performing to an audience, that means coming out to a show and supporting locally, some of your favorite artists started locally on street corners. Many entertainers have merch or art you can purchase and that helps them to continue accumulating those supplies in order to make more. This is also the best way to support your local economy.
