Hi Ashail, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Every great story begins with a dream, and for me that dream was born during the hustle and bustle of university life. After leaving high school I was so set on becoming a medical doctor and got accepted to study medicine at Anhui Medical University in China but as the time approached for me to leave Jamaica it became so impossible for me because I couldn’t afford it at all. I still wanted to get a degree so I decided to do something more affordable and went to pursue my BSc in Actuarial science at University of West Indies, Mona.

Two years in, I realized how unhappy I was with this career choice and the spark of entrepreneurship ignited within me. I switched my major to Marketing and had to start my studies over from the beginning spending another 3 years in university but I figured this could teach me how to brand myself and market my products because I knew I wanted a career that felt more meaningful and that I created on my own. From as early as prep school days, I was a budding businesswoman, turning my knack for creativity into profit by selling mechanical pencils, pencil points, erasers, candies, plums and so much more. This early taste of entrepreneurship revealed to me that I am truly passionate for building and creating something of my own.

My love for hair and the desire to empower others to embrace their natural beauty led me to create Sivad Naturals. The name itself is a clever twist, derived from my last name being spelt backward, reflecting my deep connection to the brand. With each product sold, each review received, each before and after picture I was sent, i found purpose, joy, and fulfillment because customers were having amazing transformations with their hair from using the products I created with my own hands and that fueled my ambition and passion even more.

In 2021, life took an unexpected turn when I migrated to the United States. Faced with the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land, I reluctantly paused my beloved business. It was a heart-wrenching decision, as Sivad Naturals felt like my baby. However, even in the face of adversity, my dreams remained steadfast. I envisioned my products gracing the shelves of major retailers like Walmart, Target, CVS, just to name a few and I refuse to let go of that.

After getting back on my feet and being settled into my new environment, my resilience paid off. On December 16, 2024, I reopened Sivad Naturals, pouring my heart and soul into every aspect of the business. With renewed vigor, I embraced her my spirit, determined to make my mark in the beauty industry.

But my ambitions didn’t stop there. Alongside my passion for hair care, I harbored a long-standing interest in real estate. I Completed my studies in summer 2024 and proudly became a licensed realtor in Texas, expanding my horizons and embracing new opportunities. My entrepreneurial mindset has also helped me a lot in this field with putting myself out there strategically to attract clients and keep them informed on the real estate market. This field has also been truly rewarding just seeing the look on my clients face when I get them into an apartment or house that they love.

Today, the story of my life is one of perseverance, creativity, an unyielding belief in the power of dreams and trusting God wholeheartedly. As I continue to grow my businesses and explore new avenues, I hope I inspire others to chase their passions and dreams and be reminded that there is a profound beauty in starting over. My journey has seen its fair share of pauses, but it is truly a testament to the idea that your life is not defined by your setbacks but by the lessons learned and the strength gained from each pause. I am reminded that dreams do not have expiration dates; they are timeless, waiting patiently for us to reclaim them. No matter how long my aspirations rest, I will always return to them, fueled by the belief that every restart is a chance to grow, to evolve, and to chase the life I envision.

My name is Ashail Davis, I am a licensed realtor in Texas and the founder of Sivad Naturals, a brand dedicated to providing high-quality, plant-based hair products. My love for natural, simple formulated products has been the driving force behind Sivad Naturals from the very beginning.

My journey into this industry began in 2020 when I became increasingly conscious of the harsh chemicals and questionable ingredients found in many mainstream hair and body care products. As someone with a deep appreciation for the power of nature, I was determined to create an alternative that would nourish and revitalize the hair without compromising safety or sustainability. I want to have ingredient lists that are easy to read if you pick it up in the store.

I currently have two hair collections – a Coconut & Peppermint line that focuses on hydration and an Ayurvedic Collection that uses flowers and herbs only to make very potent oils and hair treatments formulated to cater to all hair types.

Each product is crafted with the highest quality, non-toxic ingredients like plant derived oils, aloe vera, vitamins and essential oils to deliver maximum results. How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I started YouTube in 2017 and I focused mainly on hair and makeup tutorials so when I launched my own hair brand a lot of people already trusted me enough that I knew a lot about how to care for my hair and therefore make excellent products
