We were lucky to catch up with David Mullins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, David thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The Story Behind LiftGateMe & How We’re Different than other liftgate businesses:
LiftGateMe was built with a simple but important mission: to make liftgate parts and full liftgates easier to find, access, and order, so businesses and repair professionals can keep moving without unnecessary downtime. The liftgate industry has long been dominated by traditional, offline methods of sourcing parts, which can be slow, frustrating, and inefficient. We saw an opportunity to bring liftgate parts and new liftgates into the digital age—while still maintaining the personalized, knowledgeable service that small businesses and repair professionals need.
What makes LiftGateMe different is that we are, at our core, a company that understands small businesses because we are one. Our team isn’t just sitting behind desks—we’ve walked in the repair boots of our customers. Neil, for example, came from my family’s truck and trailer fleet repair business. He worked road calls in freezing winters, scorching summers, and pouring rain alongside my dad and their team, doing whatever it took to keep fleets running. That firsthand experience drives how we operate today—ensuring that the repair professionals we serve get the right parts fast, with the reliability they need to get the job done correctly.
Beyond just selling parts, we also provide full liftgate solutions, ensuring that businesses get the right gate for their needs. Too often, we’ve seen companies sell liftgates just to close a sale—without considering fit, function, or long-term reliability. This leads to costly problems, from gates that don’t fit the vehicle to units that can’t handle the intended workload, ultimately creating unnecessary downtime and frustration. At LiftGateMe, we take a different approach. Our team, especially Neil—who installed hundreds of liftgates firsthand while working for my dad’s company—knows exactly what it takes to spec, install, and later repair liftgates properly. That means our customers benefit from real-world expertise, ensuring they get the right liftgate for their specific truck, job, and long-term needs.
We also have deep respect for the manufacturers that keep the liftgate industry moving—we love representing Maxon Liftgate, Waltco, Palfinger, Thieman, Omaha Standard Palfinger, Eagle, and others. We believe in their products, and we make it our mission to ensure repair professionals can easily access the parts they need to maintain and service these trusted brands. Just as importantly, we believe in our customers—technicians, fleet managers, and business owners who keep America lifting every day. Whether they’re servicing delivery fleets, logistics companies, or local businesses, they’re the ones keeping goods moving across the country.
At LiftGateMe, we don’t just sell liftgate parts or new lift gates—we support the businesses and repair professionals who keep trucks on the road and America running. That’s what drives us forward every day.

David, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
LiftGateMe was founded to bring the lift gate industry online, making it easier for businesses, fleet managers, and repair professionals to find the right liftgate parts and new hydraulic lift gate for truck applications. Traditional liftgate sourcing was slow, often requiring multiple calls just to track down a part or determine the correct truck lift install for a specific vehicle. We saw a better way—by providing an organized, easy-to-navigate online platform that ensures customers get what they need quickly and correctly the first time.
What sets us apart is experience. Our team knows the challenges of truck lift gate repairs firsthand. Neil, who leads much of our customer support, has personally installed hundreds of Palfinger, Waltco, and Maxon liftgate units and serviced lift gates for box trucks in extreme conditions—freezing winters, brutal summers, and tough roadside jobs. JJ has also led liftgate parts teams at other companies, where he diagnosed issues firsthand, sourced Eagle parts, and repaired liftgates. Meanwhile, Diane has managed support teams at national companies, ensuring customer needs are met correctly the first time they call in. All of this real-world experience means our team doesn’t just sell parts—we help customers make the right decision based on what actually works in the field. Too often, we’ve seen companies push new box truck with lift gate installations just to make a sale, resulting in gates that don’t fit properly, are too weak for the job, or require excessive liftgate repairs. At LiftGateMe, we take pride in getting it right from the start, regardless.
We believe in supporting the businesses that keep America moving. Whether it’s a fleet operator or a mechanic sourcing liftgate for box truck applications, we’re here to provide expert guidance. Our team has firsthand knowledge of what it takes to install and maintain a truck with tail lift, ensuring that customers receive the best possible service. And we couldn’t do it without our incredible team—Neil, JJ, Diane, and Carlos—who ensure that every order, every recommendation, and every customer interaction is backed by genuine industry knowledge.
If you’re searching for lift gate truck solutions, truck lift gate parts, or full installations, we’re here to help. LiftGateMe is built on experience, trust, and a commitment to keeping our customers lifting.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience in the Liftgate Industry
Running LiftGateMe hasn’t been without its challenges, but resilience has been key to overcoming them. One of the biggest hurdles we faced early on was proving that an online platform for liftgate parts and new lift gates for trucks could work in an industry that traditionally relied on phone calls and in-person transactions. Many customers were hesitant at first—trusting only long-established suppliers despite slower service and limited inventory. Rather than getting discouraged, we focused on providing unmatched expertise and customer service, ensuring that every part or truck lift gate we sold was backed by real industry knowledge. Over time, word spread, and more repair shops and fleet operators started trusting us, not just because of our convenience but because we understood their needs firsthand.
Another test of resilience came in supply chain disruptions during and after 2020, especially during unpredictable market conditions. While other companies struggled to get liftgate truck parts or rushed to sell mismatched products, our team—Neil, JJ, and Diane—worked relentlessly to ensure customers got exactly what they needed. Neil’s hands-on experience in the field gave us an edge in navigating stock shortages, while JJ’s ability to diagnose issues and Diane’s expertise in customer service ensured that we remained a reliable partner for businesses across America who needed to keep their liftgate fleets lifting.
Resilience, for us, isn’t just about pushing through challenges—it’s about continuously adapting, learning, and standing by our customers to keep America lifting.

Any advice for managing a team?
A strong team is built on trust, clarity, and shared purpose. At LiftGateMe, we make sure Neil, JJ, and Diane—who run the day-to-day operations—have the autonomy to make decisions while staying aligned with our mission of helping customers get the right liftgate solutions. One key to maintaining morale is ensuring that everyone’s contributions are valued, whether it’s diagnosing liftgate truck issues, helping customers navigate liftgate parts, or ensuring orders go out smoothly. We also emphasize long-term relationships—not just with our customers, but within our team. When people know they’re part of something meaningful, they bring their best every day. I love the team and atmosphere that we continue to cultivate at LiftGateMe – cheers to Team LGM!
