We recently connected with Kameron Cates and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kameron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
Color, texture, and layering. Color through paint including, feature walls with murals, single or double “color drenching,” and upholstered walls. Texture through wall treatments and architectural finishes. For example, wall paper, upholstered walls, and artisanal finishes like Venetian Plaster, Roman Clay, and Lime Wash. Layering with art, drapes, fabric and soft goods.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I create original and curated interiors through an exploration of materials, color and textures.
I have a BA in Art, focusing on Sculpture and Photography. With a background immersed in design and a heavily curated home environment the development of Kameron Cates Interiors in 2021 was a natural progression. Interiors are incredibly exciting; it’s where we write most of our stories, create memories, host special moments, and spend time with our people. While I have my own unique style, my clients are the ultimate inspiration and my goal is create a beautiful, livable, dynamic home that you will love.
Through an intuitive blend of contemporary and vintage, my designs are thoughtful with a timeless sensibility and an emphasis on quality. My niche is residential and boutique commercial projects.
My services include:
Interior Concept Design
Color Consultation
Space Planning
Accessories & Artwork Sourcing
Remodels
Some people have a clear picture of how they want a room to look while others need help realizing the potential of a space. My eye for details and understanding of art, decor, fabrics, antiques, and color makes my designs reflect you. Interior decorating is more than just making beautiful places, it’s telling those who enter your home who you are.
I am on the never-ending search for the extraordinary and the beautiful.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The local Detour of Homes in New Braunfels gave me my jump start by showcasing my personal style with my home as a portfolio people could walk through. Another unique tool I found naturally when building my base was posting my Friday Finds on Instagram. I love to shop local antique stores, boutiques, and thrift shops, and show how I style the special finds hoping to inspire others to style their own homes. A major part of building my reputation are the client referrals – their view ensures other people can be confident and happy with my work and style.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals have been my main source of new clients. In our community of New Braunfels, word of mouth marketing acts quickly.
From personal recommendations, people are more likely to try a service if they hear about it from a friend or family member – I am the same. It’s helped build my relationships in the community and bring in new clients. I pride myself in the referrals from clients. It shows they are happy with our collaboration and trust in my services.
