We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mishay Ware a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, MiShay thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my business comes from my name, as well as, what I call my merchandise, Gifts, and I add the Galore part to it when I make hand make everything with love. By Shay comes from part of my first name. So everybody will know it’s ME.
MiShay, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started this business a few years ago, after personalizing and customizing my own things, but when I noticed the products looked good with customers that gave me a little push. My main reason why is because of my sweet grandma who is now my angel. She always told me to put my best foot forward, so now in business, my crafts are designed to be long lasting memories for different occasions whether it’s memorable or for leisure, to provide the best quality for each of my customers. I am where I am today because of my support system and literally studying the tips and tricks of how to make everything that I do today. I offer customized mugs, tumblers, t-shirts, placemats, ornaments, wedding/birthday gifts, invitations with addressed envelopes, wooden signs, just about everything that can be handcrafted with love.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by posting my brand. Any time I made something for myself, I made sure to tag the product from my website to the social media post. You never know who is looking exactly for what you make. I made sure to use hashtags because of course key words work, but those hashtags are what most ppl look for. Facebook and IG are my huge sites to promote on.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I sell on Square. I used to do it on Shopify, but I wanted something that everyone could use. A lot of people like to send money via cashapp, and cashapp is apart of Square and it’s a lot easier to just hit whatever method of payment to use. The processing fees and the fee for the site was an issue with Shopify before, Square is not so much. It’s better than Shopify but since wanting to build a little more, I would like to go back to Shopify. Square is just convenient for me currently because I can pull it up on my phone and they can use the tap feature to pay.
