We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Pham a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I was an active EDM listener and music festival fan. When the pandemic hit and live shows came to a halt, I decided to teach myself how to DJ. I went to Guitar Center, bought a DJ controller, and learned the basics through YouTube tutorials. Once the Covid restrictions lifted, I landed my first live gig, and from there, more opportunities followed through networking and showcasing my skills.
Taylor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I entered the DJ industry by connecting with other DJs who share my passion for music, while also continuously learning DJ techniques on my own. I maintain an open-minded approach to the music and events I take on, which has helped me attract a diverse range of clients and build versatility, something I truly enjoy. I play a wide variety of EDM genres, including house, dubstep, big room, hardstyle, and more, while also having a deep love for hip-hop and Latin music. I’m proud of the growth and opportunities I’ve experienced so far. My favorite genre to play is dubstep, and I look forward to hopefully performing at more shows and festivals in the future.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a DJ is seeing people enjoy my sets and having a great time with their friends. Creating a positive atmosphere through my music and knowing it’s bringing people together is incredibly fulfilling.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I engage with clients through social media while ensuring consistency across all interactions. I prioritize open communication, transparency, and a shared commitment to delivering a memorable experience.
