We were lucky to catch up with Junior Texmal recently and have shared our conversation below.
Junior, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was born in Antigua Guatemala on July 20th of 1993, I’m the youngest kid of four siblings. I grew up in a family of musicians, my paternal grandfather composed melodies on marimba and was the founder of a group of marimba players, my father was a singer and my brother is a great rock musician, so I already have music in my blood, although in my childhood and adolescence one of my dreams was to play soccer professionally, but I always knew that music is something that I have also been passionate about.
After my father passed away in my teenage years, I realized that soccer was not the way to go, so at the age of 19 I started to exploit my musical talent more by getting better at guitar and then started learning piano at church. That moment was important in my life because I learned to trust myself more and of course to continue trusting God.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Since I was a child I always loved electronic music, I used to listen to the songs on the radio and ask myself, how do they make such amazing music? At 21 I started writing songs, both Christian and secular and I knew that the musical genre I wanted to make was electronic, so I started searching and reading blogs about how DJs and music producers make electronic music, after seeing that the most popular software to create this musical genre was FL Studio, I searched for video tutorials and used the demo version to start learning and making some remakes of pop and electronic songs, later I bought the license for the software to start producing songs more seriously.
I am so proud to create this type of music because it is scientifically proven that this music inspires those who listen to it, it is music that motivates everyone at work, at the gym, in a night club and basically everywhere people are. I am committed to writing songs that not only have a great melody, but have great lyrics that touch the hearts.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is to reach a lot of people and to have the opportunity for them to listen to good music that motivates them to do the things they like most.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I consider NFTs are a good marketing tool. Times change and we have to adapt to everything that is in trend and I think Blockchains are the futre of business.
