Blake, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

“The Get Down” EP is definitely the most meaningful piece mkn coffee has released so far; It’s about my walk through depression, and how I came to put my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ after searching for peace for a very long time.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Blake Kleisinger. I’m the Singer/Guitarist/Producer for the DFW Indie Alt. Rock band mkn coffee. Music has been a part of my life since I could remember; from the birds singing, to the wind blowing through blades of grass, I knew harmony was all around me. I started writing songs in high school to cope with my brain, and I never really stopped.

I have come a long way from where I once was, and I hope people can heal through relating with my recollections. There is a Light, there always has been; sometimes it takes falling into total darkness to recognize the contrast.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding part of being an artist is the ability to vent out your experiences, as well as seeing how your venting has become relatable to someone other than yourself.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

I believe everyone is a creative to a degree, but to humor the question: I personally have a hard time with perfectionism, so people who’ve never dealt with it could find it hard to understand why one would be so caught-up on the small, seemingly insignificant details. Patience from both sides in any differentiating viewpoints is important for progress towards understanding one another, especially in this scenario. It would be easy for a perfectionist to question the other’s diligence; It is only that they are not aware of what the perfectionist has become hypersensitive to.
