We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hanna Nguyen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hanna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
As a small business, I managed to maintain quality in two ways. I am monitoring to improve, keeping a connection relationship with my clients if any issues arise to prevent service quality decline. Service and product quality controls had been put in place. I had been an independent nail tech and management for more than 10 years, I had experience from client’s reviews at other nail salons for time & money spent on their nail services or products but not qualified as their expectation. For example, clients made an appointment for their nail services but still waited for 10-15 minutes to get their service. Client got a pedicure and polish chip off after 1-2 days. Therefore, I would say service and product controls were needed to maintain as the company grew. For those who concerned about quality control I would advice to pay attention on client’s comments/reviews even just one small thing, provide good training for staff, pick and learn about the products that you sell or provide.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I ‘m Hanna Nguyen, I am in management and entrepreneur for my nail studio and retail business for other brands. I had been a nail tech for 8-10 years for a side job when I was in college. After graduating from University of Minnesota, I worked in the management field, I had my retail website in 2016 and started my nail studio in 2020 to provide nail services for clients. Jesi was named after my daughter Jessica. My goal of Jesi Nails is to focus on the relaxed environment, book in directly without the stress of waiting. Follow up with issues & concerns after services are done. Jesi Mall website focuses on home spa for nails, beauty and other products.
I provide nail services from regular to luxury, mani/pedi services for my clients at my Jesi Nails studio. I ‘m a nail consultant for my clients, who recommend services to meet their needs. I also design/customize press on nails. Clients would find my art designs for press on nails or products on my website/at my studio. I am a detailed person, I would love to provide a qualification more than quantity. I pick and choose products to sell or provide a service at my nail studio. Looking ahead to 2025, I ‘m excited to continue introducing clients and customers to new services, products. I ‘m also open to connect with other brands, companies and nail techs, feel free to connect on my social media. I love to learn from others, to look for new brands, or new talents to join.
