We were lucky to catch up with Jasmin Closson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At Juniper Marketing, we break away from the traditional, fully online marketing agency model by immersing ourselves in the local business community. We don’t just offer digital services—we actively show up to support business owners, providing hands-on mentorship and strategic guidance.
In 2024, this commitment led us to work closely with nonprofits and local entrepreneurs. For example, we played an integral role in structuring the marketing plan for a pitch competition, working alongside participants from the initial planning stages through to the event itself. Our involvement didn’t stop at strategy—we were there in person, mentoring entrepreneurs, offering guidance, and ensuring they had the tools to confidently showcase their businesses.
Additionally, we host community events designed specifically for early-stage entrepreneurs who may not yet have the capacity to hire a full marketing team. These events provide them with invaluable resources, education, and actionable marketing insights to help them grow. By staying engaged and hands-on, we ensure that small business owners in our community feel supported, empowered, and equipped to succeed.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Juniper Marketing was founded in the midst of the pandemic, alongside many other small businesses navigating a rapidly changing landscape. I started as a virtual assistant, gaining hands-on experience in various areas of the online business space, from managing Pinterest and Instagram to handling broader digital marketing needs. Through this journey, we discovered our niche—not just in content creation but also in building sustainable systems that help businesses thrive long-term.
Today, we’ve grown into a team of five, supporting small business owners in the health and wellness industry, nonprofits, and retail businesses. Our focus is not only on content creation but also on helping our clients establish operational systems that allow them to sustain and scale their businesses effectively.
What sets Juniper Marketing apart is our deep commitment to community involvement. We don’t just work behind screens—we actively engage in networking, mentorship, and resource-sharing. We’ve participated in multiple pitch competitions, placing in one, and have hosted events such as the Women’s Business Cornerstone Summit. Most recently, we launched a branding and marketing event designed to bring together entrepreneurs and marketing professionals—an initiative we plan to expand globally.
Beyond our client services, we’ve also started hosting events that provide practical resources for entrepreneurs, particularly those in the early stages of business. By bridging the gap between strategy and execution, we empower small business owners to not only market effectively but also build strong, lasting brands.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my journey is the importance of knowing who you work best with and setting clear boundaries in your business. In the past, I worked with a client who wasn’t the best fit for my business, but instead of recognizing that early on, I kept trying to make it work. Ultimately, this decision took a toll on my business and personal bandwidth.
That experience taught me the value of being honest about my capacity, setting firm boundaries, and staying true to the services and style of working that align with me. It’s okay to evolve, but it should always be in a way that feels right for your business and not at the cost of your well-being.
Despite that challenge, I saw it as a learning experience rather than a failure. As a business owner, you’ll face obstacles, but if you shift your mindset to see them as growth opportunities rather than setbacks, you build the resilience needed to stay in business for the long run. Challenges will come, but how you respond determines your success.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn is that success isn’t linear, and just because you experience success one day doesn’t mean every day will feel the same. For a long time, I thought that if I hit a milestone or had a big win, that momentum would always continue effortlessly. But the reality of business ownership is that success is built over time, and setbacks don’t mean failure.
I had to learn that tough days don’t define my worth or my business. What matters is how I respond—by continuing to show up, making new opportunities for myself, and not waiting for success to simply come to me. Rejections and slow periods are part of the process, but when you zoom out and look at the bigger picture, you realize just how much you’ve accomplished. That shift in perspective has helped me stay motivated and confident in the work I do every day.
