We recently connected with Sailynn Doyle and have shared our conversation below.
Sailynn, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
I started my entrepreneurial journey to reclaim control over my time, money and flexibility after working 5 jobs in 7 years due to a short-term contract and 2 layoffs!
I opened my first business in 2007 by purchasing a senior home care franchise. In just 3 years I had achieved the million dollar revenue level but was completely burnt out because it required me to work 80+ hour weeks!
Never did I think burnout would be the BIGGEST problem I would face in business! And I think this is true for so many women entrepreneurs. And that is why we don’t know what to do when it happens!
For me, there was no BIG monumental moment when I decided to fix it… It was just a regular day, when I was supposed to introduce a new caregiver to a client and she called out sick! But that day, was the moment I drew a line in the sand and went on a mission to figure out how to work less and make more!
It took me TWO WHOLE YEARS to figure it out, but once I did, I fine tuned my system and was able to triple my million-dollar business revenue, 4X my personal paycheck, while reducing my hours to just 16 weekly!

Sailynn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I never wanted to be an entrepreneur, I just wanted freedom! However my boyfriend had a family business and I saw what that business was able to provide for him – time & money!
So one Sunday in August, I was sitting on his boat when the girl next to me said, “What do you want to do?” and the answer that popped out of my mouth was, “Start my own business!” I think she meant later for dinner or drinks, haha!
However Monday morning I walked into my job and had a spam email in my Inbox that said “Ever wanted to start your own business?” and the rest is history!
It has been over 17 years since I said YES and since then I have owned a multi-million dollar franchise, a short-lived online clothing boutique, and a successful direct sales skincare business!
But my most favorite so far, has been business coaching, which I started in January 2021.
See for 10+ years women had been asking me, “How I was able to work less and make more?” and so I finally turned my experience into my unique blueprint, The Legacy Business System!
Now I mentor women entrepreneurs from burned out to balanced in just 90 days with my system!
I am extremely passionate about this mission, because I can tell you firsthand, NO ONE at the end of their life ever said to me “I wish I had worked more!”. No they shared their regrets with me over working too much and missing time with their family, passing on epic travel adventures because they were too busy, and ignoring the importance of building lasting relationships.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
After spending those first 3 years in business hustling 80+ hour weeks, I had to unlearn what society and my parents had programmed me to think… That if you want to achieve success all you have to do is work hard.
Now I know this is false because so many women entrepreneurs work hard every single day and never achieve the success they deserve.
Sure you need to “work” in and on your business but the amount of hours does not equal your level of success!
Once I figured out what I had been missing those first 3 years in business, I was not only able to grow my business revenue and my personal paycheck, but I was able to do both AND reduce my hours by 80%!
Hard Work DOES NOT EQUAL Success!
Smart Work EQUALS Success!

Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
And that one lesson on working smarter, not harder is what allowed me to sell my senior home care franchise for the highest amount possible at the time!
People who buy multi-million-dollar businesses are two things: 1) They have the capital to buy a business of that size, so 2) They are not looking for a new full-time job!
All businesses should start with an exit strategy in place, whether that be a sale or leaving it as your legacy to a family member.
When you focus on your exit as a growth strategy, your mindset shifts in how you run your business. Which allows you to work smarter, not harder.
And now I get to spend my days doing what I love! I work part time coaching women entrepreneurs and spend the rest of my days doing what I love… Shopping for Lilly Pulitzer clothes, reading a great chick lit book or spending time focused on improving my mind, body & soul.
