We were lucky to catch up with Cristiano Costa recently and have shared our conversation below.
CRISTIANO, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back in time, would I have started my creative career sooner or later? It’s a question I’ve often pondered, especially given the winding path that led me to where I am today. Looking back, I believe I started at exactly the right time—though it wasn’t the easiest road.
After my divorce, I made a bold decision: to return to university and pursue my second degree, determined to become a Portuguese teacher. It was a challenging period, balancing studies with work, pushing against all odds to carve out a new future for myself. But amidst the chaos, something unexpected happened—I found the strength to write a book.
Writing had always been a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until I was deep in my studies, immersed in literature, that I truly embraced it. Inspired by my favorite novelist, Camilo Castelo Branco, I poured my energy into creating something meaningful. His works spoke of passion, resilience, and the complexities of human nature—elements that resonated deeply with my own experiences.
Would starting sooner have changed anything? Perhaps. I might have had more time, fewer responsibilities, and a clearer headspace. But I also wouldn’t have had the same depth of emotion, the same life experience to draw from. If I had started later, maybe I would have been more settled, more secure, but I might have lost the momentum and courage that pushed me forward during that transformative time.
In the end, I believe everything happened at the right moment. My journey—through personal struggles, academic achievements, and creative pursuits—has shaped me into the writer and teacher I will become some day. And I wouldn’t change that for anything.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who may not have read about me before, let me introduce myself. I am an informatics technician with a deep passion for technology, problem-solving, and continuous learning. My journey into this field was driven by a strong curiosity about how systems work and a desire to help people navigate the ever-evolving digital world. But beyond my technical expertise, I am also someone who has pursued knowledge and creativity in unexpected ways—returning to university after a major life change and even writing a book inspired by my love for literature.
How I Got Into This Industry
My path to becoming an informatics technician was shaped by both personal determination and professional ambition. Technology has always fascinated me, and I’ve spent years refining my skills in IT support, system maintenance, and troubleshooting. After going through a difficult personal transition—my divorce—I decided to take control of my future and push myself further. I returned to university to complete my second degree, this time in Portuguese literature, with the goal of becoming a teacher. But my love for technology never faded, and I continued working in IT alongside my studies.
What I Do & How I Help
As an informatics technician, my role revolves around solving technical issues, optimizing systems, and ensuring that people and businesses can function efficiently in a digital world. Whether it’s fixing hardware and software issues, managing networks, or providing cybersecurity solutions, I take pride in making technology more accessible and reliable for my clients.
One thing that sets me apart is my ability to bridge the gap between technology and human needs. I don’t just see IT as a technical job—I see it as a way to empower people. My background in literature and education also gives me strong communication skills, which help me explain complex tech concepts in simple terms.
My Creative Side: Writing & Literature
While my technical career keeps me engaged, my love for literature is a defining part of who I am. Inspired by my favorite novelist, Camilo Castelo Branco, I found the strength to write my own book, weaving together my experiences and literary influences. This creative pursuit has given me an outlet for expression and storytelling, proving that even in a world of logic and code, creativity has a place.
What I Am Most Proud Of
I am most proud of my resilience and ability to reinvent myself. Whether it’s navigating a career in IT, returning to university, or writing a book, I have always pushed myself beyond my comfort zone. My journey shows that it’s never too late to learn, to grow, or to pursue a passion.
What I Want People to Know About My Work
I want my clients, followers, and readers to know that I approach everything I do with dedication and a desire to help. Whether it’s solving technical problems or crafting a compelling story, I put my heart into my work. My brand is about resilience, adaptability, and the belief that knowledge—whether technical or literary—can transform lives.
For those who need reliable IT support, insightful teaching, or inspiration through storytelling, I am here to offer my skills, knowledge, and experience.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There was a moment in my life when everything seemed to collapse at once. After my divorce, I found myself standing at a crossroads, questioning what my next step would be. I had already built a career as an informatics technician, but I felt an undeniable urge to start fresh, to prove to myself that I was capable of more. That’s when I made a decision that many thought was impossible—I returned to university to pursue my second degree, this time in Portuguese literature, all while continuing to work full-time in IT.
Balancing a demanding job with intensive studies was far from easy. There were nights when I would finish work exhausted, only to stay up until dawn preparing for exams. I often had to study on my lunch breaks, in between fixing computers, troubleshooting network issues, and answering calls from clients. There were moments of self-doubt—times when I wondered if I had taken on too much, if I was asking too much of myself. But I refused to give up.
In the midst of this chaos, something unexpected happened: I found the strength to write. Inspired by my favorite novelist, Camilo Castelo Branco, I started working on a book. Writing became my refuge, a way to process my experiences and channel my resilience into something creative. It was as if my love for literature, my technical mindset, and my life’s challenges had all converged into one purpose.
Through persistence, I achieved what once seemed impossible—I completed my degree, continued growing in my IT career, and wrote a book. Each challenge, each sleepless night, and each doubt I overcame proved that resilience isn’t just about surviving hardships; it’s about finding ways to thrive despite them.
Looking back, I see that the difficult moments were the ones that shaped me the most. They taught me that resilience is not about having an easy path—it’s about having the courage to keep walking, even when the road ahead is uncertain.
