Alright, Lashana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I came up with Chase Adventure Books because the main character, Chase, embarks on exciting journeys where he learns about different topics like alphabets, numbers, careers, emotions, and more. The name reflects both Chase’s name and the idea of adventure, making it engaging and fun for young readers. Plus, it aligns perfectly with my goal of creating educational yet entertaining books for kids!

I’m Lashana, an author and educator with a passion for creating engaging and educational children’s books. My journey into writing began with my love for storytelling and my background in special education. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education of Special Education and have spent years working with children, which has given me a deep understanding of how they learn and grow.
I created Chase Adventure Books to make learning fun through exciting journeys that teach kids about alphabets, numbers, emotions, careers, and more. Each adventure with Chase is designed to blend education with excitement, helping young readers develop essential skills while enjoying a great story. My books aim to spark curiosity and foster a love for learning in children from a young age.
What sets me apart is my commitment to combining entertainment with education. I don’t just write stories; I create adventures that empower children to explore the world around them while building foundational knowledge. I take pride in crafting books that inspire, educate, and entertain, making learning a joyful experience.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about Chase Adventure Books, it’s that they are more than just stories—they are tools for growth and discovery, designed to ignite a lifelong love of learning in every child.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by connecting with other children’s authors and joining groups like the Discover Kid’s Books group. Engaging with other writers and readers helped me learn more about the industry, gain visibility, and build relationships with people who share my passion for children’s books.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to be consistent, engage with others, and find a community that aligns with your work. Follow people in your niche, join groups where your audience hangs out, and don’t be afraid to share your journey. The more you interact and support others, the more your audience will grow.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
When I started Chase Adventure Books, I funded everything myself. I used my own savings to cover the costs of illustrations, editing, and publishing. It was an investment in my dream, and I knew that if I wanted to bring my vision to life, I had to be willing to take that step.
For anyone looking to fund their business, my advice is to start where you can. If you have to invest little by little, that’s okay. Look for ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality, and don’t be afraid to ask for advice from others in your industry. Self-funding was a challenge, but it also gave me full creative control over my work, which was important to me.
