Tiernen, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
My journey into wedding photography and videography began in the corporate world, where I honed my skills creating commercials and branding videos for national and international clients. As I delved deeper into the world of visual storytelling, weddings started to pique my interest. The idea of capturing such intimate and joyous moments was incredibly appealing!
When I started dating my wife, Thistle, I began exploring the possibility of booking weddings myself. I gained valuable experience by second shooting for a few people, which solidified my passion for this new direction. It was actually Thistle’s mom who referred my first wedding client to me! That first wedding was a pivotal moment for me, and I’m grateful to say that we still keep in touch with that couple to this day! Their trust and support were the foundation upon which Garden of Love Films & Photos was built, and it set the tone for the personalized and heartfelt experiences we strive to create for all our clients!

Of course! My name is Tiernen Rice, and I am the co-owner of Garden of Love Films & Photos, alongside my wife, Thistle. My journey into the world of photography and videography began in the corporate world, where I crafted commercials and branding videos for clients small and large. However, it was the allure of capturing love stories that drew me into the wedding industry!
At Garden of Love Films & Photos, we specialize in creating unique wedding experiences through our videography, photography, and photobooth services. What truly sets us apart is our hands-on approach with each couple. We believe that every love story is unique, and our mission is to tell it in the most authentic, yet cinematic way possible. We take the time to connect with our clients on a personal level, ensuring that their personalities and love stories shine through in every photo and video!

Starting Garden of Love Films & Photos in 2020 was both an exciting and daunting venture. Just as I was gearing up to capture love stories, the world faced an unprecedented challenge with the pandemic. It was a time of uncertainty, and like many, I had to navigate the sudden halt in events and weddings. Despite the initial setbacks and the significant investment in gear and business costs, I remained committed to my vision.
I used this time to refine my skills, connect with couples virtually, and plan for the future. My resilience was tested, but it also strengthened my resolve and creativity. Fast forward five years, and Garden of Love Films & Photos is thriving more than ever, capturing beautiful, authentic love stories across Ohio and beyond! This journey taught me the importance of adaptability and the power of passion in overcoming obstacles. I’m grateful for the couples who trusted me with their memories and for the opportunity to make wedding days unforgettable with love, laughter, and cherished moments!
How’d you meet your business partner?
The story of Garden of Love Films & Photos is deeply intertwined with my personal journey with my wife and business partner, Thistle. They have always been my biggest supporter, encouraging my creative and business pursuits. Their incredible eye for detail and passion for storytelling naturally complemented my vision for capturing cinematic and authentic love stories. When we decided to jump into the wedding industry, it was a leap of faith that we took together.
