Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brian Bossany. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success, to me, is not just about achieving a goal—it’s about growth, resilience, and the lessons learned along the way. I believe that failure is never truly an option because every challenge presents an opportunity: you either succeed or you learn. Every setback is a stepping stone, every obstacle a lesson, and every effort a step forward. Success isn’t just measured by accomplishments, but by the perseverance, wisdom, and strength gained in the process.
Brian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my wedding photography business in 2007 while working as a school counselor. At the time, I had summers off, which gave me the opportunity to explore my passion for photography. Over time, my business grew to the point where I was juggling two full-time jobs. Eventually, I had to make a choice: continue doing both or commit fully to one. I realized that I’d rather focus on doing one thing exceptionally well than splitting my energy between two things. I chose to dedicate myself to building my wedding photography business. I worked on branding myself as a professional in the wedding photography space, and over the last 17 years, I’ve continuously worked to perfect my craft. Now, as the business grows, I’m expanding my team to better serve couples in the wedding industry. Additionally, we’re branching out into branding photography, partnering with brands to create impactful content and imagery that aligns with their unique stories.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2019, my business was growing so quickly that I couldn’t keep up with the demand—I was turning away hundreds of couples every year. To solve this, I decided to create another company that would essentially compete with myself. I built a team of wedding photographers whom I would manage, allowing them to focus solely on shooting weddings while I handled everything else. My personal calendar filled up, and soon, my second business was booking up as well.
Then COVID hit. Almost overnight, weddings were canceled, my packed schedule emptied, and our income dropped significantly. It was a tough moment, but I reminded myself that every problem has a creative solution. I prayed for wisdom and leaned into relationships. My wife and I have always prioritized strong connections with our couples, so before they even had the chance to cancel, we reached out first. We assured them that we would partner with them in reimagining their weddings. Because we were proactive and solution-focused, many couples trusted us to navigate the uncertainty together.
Instead of letting the crisis define us, we used it as an opportunity to adapt and innovate. That mindset not only helped us survive the pandemic—it allowed us to thrive. Resilience, to me, is about facing challenges head-on, finding creative solutions, and turning obstacles into opportunities.
