We recently connected with Becca Homen and have shared our conversation below.
Becca, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My ultimate mission is to help impact-driven businesses by crafting intentional, strategy-led designs that capture their vision and drive real results—with purpose. I’m also passionate about empowering women—to help them build confidence, show up authentically, and grow the businesses they’ve worked so hard to create.
As a woman entrepreneur who had no intentions of starting a business, I know what it’s like to step into the unknown, feel the weight of doubt, and push forward anyway. I’ve taken many risks in my life, but I’ve somehow always struggled with confidence. It wasn’t until I left my corporate job, pivoted careers, and started my own business that I truly found it. Surrounding myself with women entrepreneurs shaped my growth in ways I never expected, showing me the power of community and support. That’s why I love what I do—helping women step into their power, own their stories, and grow their businesses!
My mission is also driven by my commitment to sustainability and making a positive impact. That’s why I initially pivoted careers from fashion—I wanted to use my design expertise to create meaningful change while building flexibility for my future. Once I started working with small businesses and seeing the impact I was making, that’s when I truly began to love the work I was doing.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
**A Bit About Me**
Hi! I’m Becca, a multi-faceted designer currently living just outside Seattle, WA. I wear many hats—designer, entrepreneur, backpacker, trail builder, mountain biker, snowboarder, and yogi, to name a few. I thrive on learning and exploring new challenges, and I am my best self when I’m off the grid.
I started HOMEN CREATIVE, a one-stop-shop design studio specializing in custom website design and branding for impact-driven businesses. My work is rooted in purpose, helping entrepreneurs build strong, authentic brands that drive results, and I’m passionate about empowering women and fellow entrepreneurs to embrace their boldest, most authentic selves.
I’m also a maker—I run a side business called Pocket Beanies, where I design, hand-cut, and sew fleece beanies for adults and kids to keep them warm on their mountainous adventures.
**How you got into your industry**
Let me take you on a bit of my journey.
I studied fashion design at F.I.T. in NYC and spent a decade designing outdoor apparel for industry leaders like The North Face. While I loved the work, I felt creatively disconnected and craved something more. At 32, I took a leap—I quit my corporate job and set out to find a new path.
Over the next six months, I taught myself UX and website design, discovering unexpected parallels between my previous design work and this new field. I started helping small businesses revamp their websites and branding, and soon, I had a realization: *Why not launch my own business?* That’s how HOMEN CREATIVE was born.
**What type of products/services/creative work do you provide?**
At HOMEN CREATIVE, I design strategic Squarespace websites, branding, and marketing collateral that empowers businesses to scale with confidence. My approach goes beyond aesthetics, blending storytelling with intentional design to create a lasting impact that drives results.
**What problems do you solve for your clients?**
Many of my clients come to me feeling frustrated with their online presence. They’ve often tried DIYing their website but aren’t happy with the outcome, or they feel their branding doesn’t truly reflect their vision. I help them create a strong, intentional brand that not only looks beautiful but also builds trust, converts leads, and drives business growth. Beyond just design, I also help instill confidence in my clients, ensuring they feel empowered to present their business in a way that aligns with their values and goals. My goal is to take the stress out of branding and website design, providing a high-quality, strategic solution without the headache of figuring it out on their own.
**What sets you apart from others?**
What makes my approach different is my focus on intentional design, personalized collaboration, and empowerment. I believe in a less-is-more approach, ensuring that every design decision balances functionality, aesthetics, and impact. My process is highly collaborative—I take the time to deeply understand each client’s vision and translate it into a design that not only looks great but also works seamlessly for their business. Beyond just delivering a finished product, I aim to equip my clients with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to grow their business with clarity and purpose.
*What are you most proud of, and what do you want potential clients/followers to know about you and your work?*
One of the things I’m most proud of is the fact that I completely transformed my career, teaching myself an entirely new skill set from scratch. I went from being a corporate designer to running my own business, learning everything from sales to marketing—things I had never done before. That perseverance and willingness to take risks taught me that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. That same mindset carries over into my client work—if there’s something I don’t yet know how to do, I’ll figure it out.
HOMEN CREATIVE was born from a mix of curiosity, a passion for design, and a deep commitment to supporting purpose-driven businesses. I strive to embody my core values in both my work and daily life, and I thrive in the company of others who are on a mission to make a positive impact. More than just a designer, I see myself as a creative partner, someone who helps entrepreneurs bring their boldest ideas to life with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Finding new clients has definitely been one of the toughest parts of running my business. I’ve realized that client acquisition can be a real challenge for service-based businesses in my industry. I’ve tried a bunch of different marketing strategies, but nothing beats the power of trusted referrals and word-of-mouth.
I’m always experimenting to find a sustainable client acquisition strategy, but I’ve learned that keeping in touch with past clients and continuing to support them is key. Nurturing those relationships often leads to partnerships and, of course, a strong referral network. In fact, nearly 90% of my clients come from referrals! As a thank-you, I offer a referral bonus to show my appreciation, and I also make sure to expand my services whenever they need something I haven’t done before.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Before I pivoted careers and launched my business, I felt completely unfulfilled in the apparel industry. Every day, I’d go to work thinking, There has to be more. I have more potential. I want my work to make a real impact. So, after years of saving and with no major responsibilities tying me down, I made the terrifying decision to quit—without a backup plan. I had no idea what was next, but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t take the leap.
At first, I wasn’t planning to start a business. I was simply exploring, following my curiosity. But with a little push from a fellow business owner, I decided to “just go for it.” Pursuing a completely new skill set felt insane, and imposter syndrome hit hard. But I was determined and willing to learn—driven by the belief that I could figure it out.
Then I ran out of savings. Financial stress hit hard, and my partner had to shoulder the burden while I tried to book clients. During a particularly slow period, I needed to make quick cash, so I leaned into my apparel skills and launched a side business making fleece beanies. Using my web design skills, I built a site, launched the products—and they sold out. That moment proved to me that anything is possible with belief and hard work. It gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward with my design business.
There were countless setbacks, difficult conversations, and moments of self-doubt when I wanted to quit. But every morning, I reminded myself: I am worthy of success. I am worthy of abundance.
Through all the lows, there were also incredible wins. Even though I’m still building my business, I’ve had those “Ahh, yes, the hard work is paying off” moments that make it all worth it. When I look back at the version of myself who doubted whether she could do this, I want to tell her: I’m proud of you for being so damn resilient and not giving up. Keep going.
