We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brad La Pointe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brad, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Our team at Confounders.Co worked alongside Magnitude of Change to do a complete re-brand and website build to help secure contracts from government agencies to support their digital marketing during the 2024 election cycle. Resulting from the new website launch in 2024, the team experienced 20X growth in contracts and sales. Fun fact: they are trending for 300X for 2025.
Within a time frame of only two months, our team rebranded the site and developed digital and print assets to help elevate Magnitude of Change’s presence within the field. The website design was crucial to securing these multi-million dollar contracts by showing Magnitude of Change’s own client success stories and expertise.

Brad, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, I got into the world of UI/UX Design almost five years ago and truly fell in love with the idea of one day running a small agency with other super talented people. Cut to five years later and this dream has become a reality in the form of Confounders.Co.
At Confounders.Co, we approach projects with a unique mindset and angle; not what you might first think about, and not doing what everyone else thinks about. We’re not afraid to look at a problem in a different light. The meaning of our company name was inspired by the idea of “confounding variables,” or there’s always a third variable that can be uncovered, which gives you different insights. And when you understand your problems, this leads to better results. We know that building a product or company or website is not always linear; as you build, you discover new things. At Confounders.Co, we seek to uncover a solution that will leave you confounded by the results. In practical terms, our team specializes in UX/UI Design, Product & Website Development, and Product Strategy, which means we can handle almost every problem you might face along your product roadmap. So, we stand out to our clients due to being well-versed in multiple disciplines.
I think we’re really proud of our range—the depth of products we’ve brought to life. From payment applications, e-commerce websites, political and public health sales and marketing tech. And hopefully ever more! We can apply what we know solving problems in multiple industries and bringing new life to them, coming up with solutions that work.
We are an industry agnostic, problem agnostic, studio with over 2 decades of experience creating products and solving problems. If you have an idea, we can help you turn that into reality. We love working with founders who think about things differently—becoming your “con-founder”. Whether looking for a a website refresh or building a new product, Confounders can be the hidden third variable that can help you get to your solution.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our most effective strategy is a simple one: putting out great quality work from all stages of the iteration process, which in return allows us to build the best product for our client’s users. Our work speaks for itself and our clients love to share—there isn’t a better way to reach people.

How’d you meet your business partner?
It all started with two siblings who became co-founders: one in Product Development & Strategy, Melissa, and the other in Product Design, myself. We realized we both complement each others’ skills. We soon became three coworkers and, started looking into the concept of creating a small agency with two other highly talented friends Dani Raison and Katie Swalm, becoming four.
Dani Raison is an incredible and highly talented Developer who is capable of building out some of the most beautiful work. Our UX Copywriter, Katie Swalm, who has been gifted with the gift of UX Copywriting and all things Notion wizard, keeps us on track and implementing our clients’ brand voice in our projects.
Melissa has been operating product design studios since 2007, from there, she met Dani and has been working with, building products, for at least 15 years; and Melissa and Katie worked on design on a financial technology platform together starting in 2021. Then, we all decided to come together and start a firm, putting confoundingly incredible products into the world!
Together, us four are focused on creating and building the best quality product for our clients. Whether it be social media post designs or a complete rebrand and site build, we’re ready for the challenge.
