We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon Mclean. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Our mission at Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. is to empower young men within the community with the skills and knowledge needed to become responsible and self-sufficient individuals. Our vision is to provide a future where every young man has the opportunity to learn essential life skills and grow into a confident and capable individual through mentorships, guidance, and workshops. The mission of Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. is important because the next generation of young men often faces unique challenges and is sometimes overlooked in our communities. As an advocate for these underdogs, I am passionate about standing in their corner and reminding them that they have someone who believes in their potential. This mission is about more than just teaching skills—it’s about instilling confidence, fostering independence, and creating opportunities for young men to realize they are capable of achieving greatness. By equipping them with essential life skills and guidance, we are not only shaping their futures but also strengthening the community as a whole.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Brandon McLean and I hail from Wagram, NC, and am a proud Scotland County native, though I now call Fayetteville, NC my home! I am a proud alumnus of Fayetteville State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. I am a passionate supporter and advocate for the youth and the next generation, particularly young men, which led me to become the Founder and President of the Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. movement. My vision for this movement is to help create a future where every young man has the opportunity to learn essential life skills and grow into a confident and capable individual through mentorship, guidance, and workshops. I want to help young people learn, speak, and normalize conversation about all aspects of life, especially when it comes to mental health. My goal is to continue to educate our youth and to bring awareness. I am also passionate about advocating for men. I believe that men must rise to take their rightful place as strong, loving leaders in their homes and communities. My mission is to empower men to embrace their God-given roles with confidence and integrity, becoming examples of strength, love, and responsibility for the next generation. I am dedicated to helping men lead with purpose, break free from harmful stereotypes, and build legacies that inspire future generations to follow in their footsteps.
One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is the Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. “Who Am I!” Program. This initiative is close to my heart because it allows me to connect directly with young men in 3rd through 5th grade at various elementary schools. Over the course of five weeks, I have the privilege of teaching and encouraging these students through essential life lessons and self-empowerment principles. The program is designed to help them discover their unique identities, build confidence, and equip them with the foundational tools they need to thrive as individuals. Watching these young men grow in self-awareness and recognize their potential is incredibly fulfilling, and it reinforces my belief in the importance of investing in the next generation.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most significant challenges I’ve faced on my journey has been dealing with anxiety attacks, particularly when it comes to traveling. There have been moments where the thought of stepping out of my comfort zone to visit different schools felt overwhelming. However, my commitment to the mission and vision of Teach Me 2 Tie Inc., “Who Am I!” program, and the young men it serves has kept me moving forward.
I remember one particular trip when I had an intense anxiety attack (I oftentimes have them when driving/riding on highways), but as I walked into the classroom and saw the eager faces of the young men, it reminded me why I push through. These young men are counting on someone to invest in them, to teach them life lessons, and to show them that they matter. Knowing the greater good is being done for the youth fuels my perseverance. Each step I take outside my comfort zone is a testament to resilience, and I’m determined to continue overcoming these challenges so I can make a lasting impact on their lives.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
It’s not so much a lesson I had to unlearn, but more of a mindset I want to help shift—the narrative that the next generation doesn’t care and is too far gone to be helped. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The reality is that our next generation needs and yearns for guidance, but we have to be willing to adapt to reach them. Gone are the days when the same methods from the past automatically work. Times have changed, and we have to be consistent, creative, and intentional in showing them that we are here for them.
This realization comes from my experience teaching the youth at my local church, Chosen Remnant Ministries in Fayetteville, NC where the honorable Pastor Lorna Taylor oversees. Walking alongside them, hearing their stories, and seeing the lack of understanding and support they often face reminded me of my own struggles as a young person. I remember feeling like no one truly understood me, and I don’t want today’s youth to feel the same way. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to be an advocate who not only listens but also helps them navigate life, avoid pitfalls, and recognize their potential. This is the heart of what I strive to do with the young men in Teach Me 2 Tie Inc.—to show them they’re not alone and that someone is willing to walk this journey with them.
