We were lucky to catch up with Chazz G recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chazz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
My best investment was my home studio. I’ve been making music for 12+ years now. In my earlier years, I was dependent upon engineers, their schedules and their prices. There were many times when I had a fresh idea that i wanted to record but just couldn’t. Those days really motivated me to find a way to engineer myself.
Engineering, even just a little, is an invaluable skill because it significantly speeds up the process of getting ideas out. It also allows an artist to have full creative control over any given record. Now i can wake up in the middle of the night and record that melody that was playing in my dream!

Chazz , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an LA based recording artist, producer and engineer from Richmond, Virginia and founder and CEO of Top Floor Production Studios. I’m a highly creative and proficient recording artist, audio producer, DJ and engineer who puts my own unique spin on the way I create music and bring sound to life. Since the release of my first EP “Still Solo” I’ve been featured in Respect Magazine, 4sho Magazine, Blades and Bars Magazine, NOVA Music Blog, and other media outlets and I’ve performed during DC Funk Parade and SXSW. I dropped a euphoric R&B record called EMBRACE in June of 2024.and am working on a Hip Hop EP that I’ve been teasing for a while, set to release in 2025 so stay tuned!
Top Floor Studios LLC is a media production company that specializes in recording, mixing, and mastering services. We are also moving into animation and will be offering animated music videos very soon!

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think we as a society should get back to focusing on the art. We’ve gotten to the point in music where everything else about the artist matters more than the actual music.
Most of those timeless, classic r&b records from the 80s-90s that we still love today, came from an era of music where often times the music was all a listener had to go by. There wasn’t any social media, so an artist would be judged by his/her art. This is when music was last at its peak in my opinion.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Will Smith has a video speaking about how a skydiving trip changed his perspective of fear. At the end of his speech he said something that will be with me forever. He says “God places all of the best things in life on the other side of fear.” That quote has been extremely powerful for me throughout my journey. Fear kills a lot of dreams and a lot of successful people are just people who had the courage to fight back.
I think about Will’s quote whenever doubt starts to effect my thoughts. I need to see what’s on the other side!
